By the way -- still uncertain he's a Yank, but he was with the Sacramento Republic for a recent preseason match. http://www.sacrepublicfc.com/sacram...-affiliate-san-jose-earthquakes/#.Uxo1jRBdV7c If he signs with them, I guess we might at least figure out if he's a Y -- though of course he'd then not be A.
Soccer-Talents says a '96 with Italian lower-division team US Arezzo named Sean Gianelli is a Yank. He is at the club, but haven't found out more about him. A player of this name seems to have been with a Malaysia-based youth team a few years ago but don't know if that means anything. http://www.arezzocalcio.com/it/squadre/juniores_54.html http://www.soccer-talents.com/Sean_Gan_Giannelli-3_7-204953-12.html
FuPa says a '97 at TuS Nordenstadt in German named Malik McLemore is a Yank. http://www.fupa.net/spieler/malik-mclemore-377138.html Various reports on the club site confirm his presence on the B1 youth team.
According to FuPa, there are two Americans at TSV Karlburg -- (presumed, at least by me) brothers David and Gabriel Nunn. http://www.fupa.net/teams/tsv-karlburg-25051.html There's an opportunity for a pun here that I'm going to pass on for now.
Definitely Malaysian, but still can't tell if he's a Yank somehow. Though the name might be a tip. http://www.goal.com/en-my/slideshow/5468/8/title/goals-top-20-southeast-asian-rising-stars?ICID=OP https://ms-my.facebook.com/SeanGanGiannelli#!/SeanGanGiannelli https://twitter.com/seangiannelli http://www.youtube.com/user/seangiannelli/videos
Clearly a first-language English speaker, & seems to have ties to St. Louis (he's an Albert Pujols fan & likes another St. Louis related page): https://www.facebook.com/chase.reichenberg Has a thread already: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/chase-reichenberg-at-fc-st-pauli.1810525/
He does, but its entire content seems to be a link to his Transfermarkt page. Figured it made more sense to lump him in here until we are sure rather than bump it.
Definitely Portuguese, but speaks English: https://pt-pt.facebook.com/eric.cos...1292503732256.35723.1820179381&type=1&theater
The Portuguese federation has his full name as "Derek Joe Oliveira" and lists the US as his birthplace: http://portal2.fpf.pt/portal/page/p...agente=J&dia=&mes=&ano=&ant=&seg=&accao=clube I'm going with Yank.
Played at Montville HS in NJ & on USASA Open Cup entrant Icon FC w/ex-YAs in Poland Adam Kelemet & Nelson Becerra, as well as Polish-American YA Danny Szetela & Dilly's brother Argjent Duka: http://highschoolsports.nj.com/player/sam-gehman/ http://www.gssl.com/39/icon-fc-wins-usasa-region-1-crown/ Sammy, I dub thee YA.
A random Facebook post from March 2012 lists the following among foreigners with their respective clubs,: "Xelajú MC... David Orozco (USA) de origen de Guatemala... Deportivo Mixco... Carlos Muñoz (USA) de origen de Guatemala... Deportivo Guastatoya [of Vincenzo Bernardo fame] Roberto González (USA) de origen de Guatemala" https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=395211363822536&id=261366900540317 Wikipedia also lists Gonzalez as American: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deportivo_Guastatoya David Israel Orozco likes Xelaju on his Facebook page, which is largely in English: https://www.facebook.com/david.i.orozco.9
A site called Sport-Finden says a player named Markus Dworrak is German-American. I don't use that site for much, but it is right about another German-American player. http://sport-finden.de/fussballspieler/markus_dworrak.shtml Transfermarkt doesn't say so. http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/markus-dworrak/profil/spieler_37.html As TM says, he was at FC Bad Oeynhausen last season but I am not sure he is still there.
A few sites say Wealdstone FC's '96 Orlando Rodriguez is American. He exists and is at the club but I don't know more at the moment. I think this is a seventh-division club.
Some guy just told me the Spurs GK is American...Brad Friedel or something. Apparently he is from Ohio or something but I doubt it based on his accent. Whatevs Whoever he is he is playing against Benfica in the Europa League at the moment.
The quickest way to know for sure if a GK is American is to see if he has hair. Does this guy have hair?
Wealdstone are indeed playing in the 7th tier, although they look like they will be promoted to the Conference South. Here's the guy in question:
Awesome. Maybe it's time to resuscitate the old YA photo threads... Looks like the first one is gone but the second one remains. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/yanks-abroad-photo-thread-2006.285460/
