Not going to blame shuttleworth for the lost but I have seen enough of his stone hands to say lets see McKnighton in there.
Message to Jose. I understand you are not happy with the contract but don't let your teammates or the fans down....Deal with it off the field and honor your current contract to the best of your ability.
Bengston has squandered two sitters in two games,,,,move on. I am sick seeing a hodge podge of 4-4-1-1 or 4-1-3-1 or 4-3-3 or whatever the hell Heaps seems to be throwing out there every other half Lets go traditional 4-4-2.
    ......................................................McKnighton
    Woodbine......................Farrell.........................Goncalves...................Tierney(alston if healthy)
    Fagundez.....................Rowe...........................Dorman..................Nguyen
    ........................................Mullins................Bunbury

I know it's St. Patrick's Day, but there's no "Mc" in Brad Knight0n's name.

I agree with firstshirt's lineup... <sigh>... it's what we got. But since it IS St. Patrick's Day:

    ......................................................McMcKnighton
    McWoodbine......................McFarrell.........................McGoncalves...................McAlston if healthy(But we'll get McTierney)
    .......................................McDorman
    McFagundez.....................McRowe..................McNguyen
    ........................................McMullins................McBunbury

'cept maybe more of a 4-1-3-2?

I honestly do wish the Revs had the personnel to run a 4-4-2 - the lone striker setup doesn't serve any of our forwards very well.

The problem is to run an effective pure 4-4-2 in MLS you basically need:

    1. A strong CB pairing
    2. Two box-to-box CMs, or one elite DM
Otherwise you give up a ton of possession. The Revs don't really have #1 or #2 (arguably they have #1 if both Goncalves/Farrell are 100% mentally and physically, but that's stretching it).

Until then, I'd like to see this 4-2-3-1 based on what we saw on Saturday.

    Bunbury
    Nguyen - Rowe - Fagundez
    Caldwell - Kobayashi
    Tierney/Alston - Goncalves - Soares - Farrell
    Knighton

I'd also forget about Bengtson again and have the subs be Imbongo - Sene - Neumann to see if anyone can link up with Bunbury effectively.

Vancouver almost lost (salvaged a draw) despite being up a man for more than 70 minutes vs Chivas.

I checked the game thread at halftime (when Chivas were up 1-0). and writer Marc Weber had posted this tweet at the 41' mark: "Well, guess I'll start writing my 'substitute Manneh lifts Caps to victory over 10-man Chivas' story."

Manneh came on in the 60' and scored the game-tying goal in the 81'. Mind=blown....

What's the deal with our number 1 pick this year? Still Injured? not match fit? not good enough to make the bench?

Usually once a GK wins a staring spot, its his to lose, and its pretty hard to lose unless you make some serious mistakes. I think you give Bobby the start until something serious happens. Continuity in the back is important. That's also why they should put Woodbine in for Tierney and Ferrerl or Maca in for AJ and let them gain an understanding

If Sene could do 30 minutes two weeks ago, surely he can do 60 minutes on Saturday

    i want

    Bunbury
    Diego-Nguyen-Rowe-Sene
    Caldwell
    Barnes-Farrell-Goncalves-Woodbine
    Whoever

I'm picking Darius Barnes at left back because Diego has barely put in a tackle in 180 minutes. Keep Barnes at home to make up for that and lets see how Woodbine does.

I like the rest of your post but continuing to leave Bunbury isolated up top is a recipe for disaster, or specifically, a goal drought. We're just going to keep dropping points until someone on the technical staff figures this out.
It's like Heaps & co have learned nothing from how last season began.

I like the line-up, but I'm gonna go ahead and start an "i predict" line-up:
    Bunbury
    Diego-Nguyen-Kobayashi-Nueman
    Caldwell
    Tierney-Farrell-Goncalves-Barnes
    Shuttleworth

    subs Bengston, Sene, Rowe

The Revs will get killed with a 4-4-2. They don't have a player who is dynamic enough to cover all the ground required in a two man central midfield.

Rowe would be too exposed defensively if he was part of a pairing and neither Dorman or Caldwell are good enough to make up for him.

I think our only shot at a 2 man midfield that can maintain any control would be Nguyen with Dorman. Unless Farrell moves to midfield... he can do anything!

I watched the "condensed" version of this game on MLS Live (they condense matches to 20 minutes). Vancouver looked awful, even up a man, and gave up a few dangerous counter attack opportunities that Chivas was unable to convert. Then Manneh came on and changed the game...best player on the field. Good on the ball, composed finish, very fast...he'll be a handful for us. Almost created the winner but it looked like he got caught between passing to the far post and shooting to the far post and it went out.

Vancouver seems like a strange team. Scored 4 goals in their opener against NY, but then looked awful up a man against Chivas. What team will show up in NE next week?

Expecting rain on Saturday, which will not help with the crowd either.

For a cold day in March, that looks quite good.

The bench side is nearly sold out and the tv side is near %50. I don't know how accurate that depiction is, but if sales are what they appear to be, I'd guess that's about 15K.

yeah! 15,000 in our home opener after our first playoff appearance in 4 years! looks great! puts us behind average attendance for everyone except Chivas (basket case), San Jose (temporary stadium), and DCU (basket case).

It was minus 10 degrees at my house last night. I don't know about the rest of the fans in New England who like to watch soccer live but it's hard to get up real excitement for sitting in the stadium to watch a game. You have to be a real die-hard fan of the game to attend games in March in New England.
