They won at Syracuse because the Silver Knights played down to the Ambush's level that night.

You'll have to forgive me, but given your track record of sarcasm I'm not sure if you buy it or not, do you believe the numbers are 100% accurate? IMO the same reported numbers of attendance in the past are resulting in much larger crowds. So are we saying that the Wave may actually be one of the few, if only MISL team currently announcing accurate attendance?

I remember this game, and I thought they actually played up that night, not the other way!

Good crowds in Milwaukee considering they played back to back nights. Thats usually a tough draw. Generally you have to divide up your groups over 2 nights vs 1. Kudos to the Waves sales staff.

    Any prediction on Playoff attendance?

Downer for Wave at only 4,500 for the biggest game of the year in the MISL so far.

Positive sign for 'Cuse heading into the playoffs.

And that has to be a typo, nearly 2K in Reading? 1,900 of them had to be Blast fans who made the drive up, right?!?!

I completely disagree, it was a great crowd considering they pulled in 5,100 the night before for over 9,600 attendance in a span of about 20 hours. I talked to someone with the Wave who I trust yesterday and he told me that this year the attendance they were reporting was accurate wheres in the past an announced crowd of 5K was likely more in the 3.5K area. Sure some tickets were likely comped or discounted, but when the team worked out a deal to get a cut of concessions then every butt in the seats means money.

I dare the teams that finished ahead of them in average attendance to publish actual attendance numbers, because I'm betting the Wave would be one of the top teams in the league.

What proof do you have that Rochester, Baltimore or St. Louis doesn't report actual attendance numbers? You can assume, speculate, and guess all you want, but until you have some facts, that's a heck of a statement to make.

No, it's not a heck of a statement, I'd like to know which teams are legitimately announcing attendance. Every attendance thread on this forum for the time I've been a poster on here talks about how teams cheat their attendance figures. I've heard from a couple sources now that the Wave this season are announcing accurate numbers, I'd love to see actual legit attendance numbers from all the teams.

There are far more things that go into this than the supposed or perceived "importance" of a given game.

Yet all people can say when presented with something that runs contrary to their preconceived belief is that there must be something wrong with the other people, not with their belief system.

Anyway, here are the final numbers (and that missing Rochester figure has appeared, thankfully), including percent of capacity and percent change from last year's averages:

    Team.......................G....Total..Average...%Cap....Change
    Rochester Lancers.........10...73,471...7,347....61.23%..+15.50%
    Baltimore Blast...........10...61,234...6,123....54.32%..+10.43%
    St. Louis Ambush..........10...56,361...5,636....53.85%....N/A
    Milwaukee Wave............10...49,065...4,907....52.76%...-3.21%
    Missouri Comets...........10...41,803...4,180....72.07%...-1.36%
    Syracuse Silver Knights...10...28,697...2,870....47.83%..-15.65%
    Pennsylvania Roar.........10...15,492...1,549....21.52%....N/A
    MISL TOTAL................70..326,123...4,659....52.57%...+7.32%

I have no way of knowing.

But having done this for a while, I would be skeptical of any one team's announced attendance figures being an exact, 100%, spot-on representation of the actual number of people in their buildings. That's in just about any sport you can name. I am just not aware of an instance in which that actually happens. I usually take the under.

No way of knowing. You folks in Wisconsin could file a FOIA request with the city and get actual drop counts.

I just wish the "seemed like more" meme would die. Because humans can't accurately gauge the number of people in a given area. There's an anchor bias tied to the whole thing, not to mention the inherent bias from people who are fans of whatever team you're talking about.

But I was more tweaking the guy who said not long ago that the Wave's figures were "100% accurate." Because that would seem to be unlikely. Not impossible. Just unlikely.

3,991 in Syracuse tonight, which is a season high. Unfortunately, the Knights lose Game 1 of their semifinal series 20-7 to the Baltimore Blast.

having been 'that guy' at ssk home games for 3 seasons now. and being in a group of people who carry in flags and other props. the consensus in our group was that there were alot of new faces at the game last night.

We were getting pretty weird looks from alot of people who hadn't seen our group support the Silverknights. If they had gone to any previous home game, almost ever, they'd have known what was in store.

Regardless of how they played, I think this was a good thing for the 'Knights.

I would agree with your assessment. I do not have anywhere near the experience in the Oncenter that you must have, I have seen every Blast game there, but that is the extent of my experience there. Having said that, the house was as full as I have ever seen it and I noticed a lot of people having to be shown to their seats, indicating that they were not regulars. It was good to see and it was good to see that it appeared to me that everyone stayed until the end, whereas my previous experiences there were that a lot of people left after halftime.

Not nearly as small as it seemed it was going to be when 20 minutes to kickoff the arena was looking pretty paltry but by game time the place was pretty decent. Very loud crowd as well, god I love playoff soccer in the Cell!!!

    3,822 announced in Baltimore.

Going to guess the Comets do well on Friday night at the gate. With four days to sell a Thursday date last year in the finals, they got an announced 5,279. Now they have four days to sell a Friday date and some good momentum.

Wow. Significantly fewer than game one last year (on a Thursday with the same number of days to sell).

The Big 12 Tournament semifinals may have something to do with that (or may not). I believe last year they went up against the quarters, but Kansas played during the day. This year was direct competition with Kansas.

The crowd was loud. But not overly big. Comets have a cool celebration video up on their Facebook page with the supporters group.
