Primary ticket holder's membership is renewed when the tickets are renewed but what is the process to renew membership for those who are not primary ticket holders? Sorry if that was already mentioned in one of the emails...

    From latest SOB Email:

    SoB Membership 2014

    Renewal Information!
Now that Sons of Ben memberships are being processed through the Union’s ticket system you are now able to purchase your SoB membership while renewing your season tickets. If you have season tickets in The River End there is already 1 SoB membership on your season ticket account (under the account holders name) that will be purchased when you renew your season tickets. If you need to purchase multiple SoB memberships for family members, or if you don’t have season tickets and you just want to purchase your 2014 SoB Membership please CLICK HERE You will only be able to purchase one SoB Membership at a time. If you are making multiple purchases please make a separate transaction and create a new account for each person getting a membership card. Create each new account in the name of the person that the membership is for, because the name on the account you create will be the name that is printed on the SoB membership card. If possible, please provide a unique email address as well so each person gets all of the SoB communication emails.

So... how's everyone feeling about the membership kit this season. Seems like last season's went down well. Is this an expected build upon that, what else would you like to see.

Last year's flag and pint glass are pretty hard to top. But I like the looks of the new scarf.

arent we getting a scarf with every STH's name sown into it? i think i remember reading that somewhere.

    edit- yeah, here:

SEASON TICKET HOLDER SCARF: This year’s season ticket holder gift will be a special 5th Season scarf that will have the names of all our 2014 Full Season ticket account holders printed on it. The name printed will match the primary name on your season ticket account, and to have your name included you must make your initial renewal payment by the October 1 deadline.

yeah, sorry, thats what i meant by STH scarf. i havent heard anything about that since, so i wonder if it isnt happening. it would be dumb for SOB and the team to give scarves, especially when the two are working closely together this season

There are meetings that much is true and we have to work together in some regards _River Cup and the like - but they have no say in what we give to our members and we have no say in what they send out. I don't know where the idea that everything is cloistered and sinister comes from. Join in and find out - you'll most likely be bored out your skull at what goes on behind the scenes. The STH scarf is a silk one that's screen printed. Has to be. and from what I've heard it is. It would be the only way to get all names on. The type that hardly anyone uses and people bitch about the quality of - The SoB scarf is a knitted jacquard scarf - the traditional type. And we're going back to our root colors this year - no navy or gold - That was a big driver this year of getting the SoB colors back in the river end. There was a severe absence of 'Faithful to the End' being exhibited last year and that's our key driver this year.

The reasoning behind a scarf? - Well, we wanted to do shirts. But the sign up page forgot to include the size field. So that meant shirts were out. We went and set up a checkout page - with the info to checkout to be sent to members by email - but on consideration, we decided doing it by email won't work either, as we only have a 20-30% average rate of the nack being opened - and we'd end up with over half the group complaining that they didn't get it. Too problematic.

You got flags and glasses last year (everyone loved them but the shipping of the glass cost 4x what the glass cost and I have a limited budget to work to) and apart from the first few games the intended use of the flags dwindled too, so scarves was next on the list - because we want what we send out to be used on game day. The Pins are so you can exhibit your membership in more conservative environments such as at work. Only last week I was presenting to a global Health company in NYC and the first 15 mins were people asking about the pin and then the story.

If anyone has ideas of things they want they can email me directly at mark.jenkinson@sonsofben.com as i'm the guy that for the last few seasons has gotten all this stuff made.
As for the using their sign up system.... it was used for several reasons - including the fact that it cut down on overheads and a hell of a lot of work that we have to do manually. This year the cards are credit card plastic - and not printed at Sir Speedy and they will be mailed with your STH - PLUS by doing this it enabled us to pass the savings of that to you, getting your membership fees down from 35-40 bucks to 27.

    Hope this makes sense. MJ

I mean, I'm not complaining, and I am a member. I also didn't say anything about the relationship being cloistered or sinister. However, when two groups have a relationship to the extent of one being automatically purchased when you purchase season tickets ( yes, if you are buying new season tix in tre online , you can't remove the sob membership, which I'm fine with) it just seems like an oversight that no one in either party thought to take the five minutes needed to coordinate, so said parties wouldn't be giving the same thing at essentially the same time. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for everything we get and everything the sob leadership does, and if to the sth scarf is bogus, I'm happy as hell to get this one.

I know you personally didn't but it's been alluded in this and other threads. I'm just trying to exercise a degree of transparency here - maybe something we've been guilty of not doing in the past.
iirc, and i'm not involved with the membership side other than in helping secure fulfillment, you don't need a membership to buy ST in TRE. After Oct 1st they were open, you'd end up paying I think $9 more than the Sob membership and the discounted ticket for SoBs combined, and you would most likely lose your existing seat, but you did have a choice.
We knew there was going to be a scarf from the FO - same as every other year. Our concern is not what the FO gives out, but what we give out. This is a pivotal year, there's no longer any original members left on the board and as such we wanted reaffirmation that even though the torch has been passed, the values are very much in tact by going back to our original colors and revisiting some of our heritage. It was a very conscious decision and the key item that would allow us to do this was a scarf. Cheers. MJ

I like the transparent approach from new SoB leadership, I hope it translates to better match day participation/involvement.

I want all four of my family members to be SOBs. But, it takes a different email address for each. When I called fan services, they told me to go to the SOB web site. Please set it up so I can get an SOB membership for each ticket on my account without having to provide a different email address for each ticket.

It is a complete and udder pain in the ass. At one time I was purchasing 5 per season. I now purchase just 2 for this very reason.

I realize this is a concern. I have contacted the FO about this issue and the suggestion is that you create a hotmail or gmail (or some other free email account) for each intended member. Even if you don't access these email accounts, that allows each member to have a membership card with their name on it. If you choose not to do this, you CAN purchase multiple memberships under one account, but the names on the cards will be the same name (the account holder's name)

Any more questions, please feel free to email me at Christina.Eunson@sonsofben.com

Still kinda lame. Why could they not have a drop down that allows you to enter multiple names? It really is quite simple to do.

I agree, it's not ideal. Unfortunately, much like we had to abandon the shirt idea because they didn't have a size field, we were left with no other way to do this.

Gotcha. Not really complaining, I am happy to receive my kit each year. Just seems like there could be a better way to do it with the available technology and all.
