Just fyi...Chandler is starting against Bayern. I just tuned in shortly before HT, so no idea if he was at fault for the goal or how he's played thus far. Bayern is winning 0-1.
According to this site: http://www.nordbayern.de/sport/die-nachsten-bitte-ginczek-und-chandler-ins-fcn-lazarett-1.3445295 Chandler had to be taken to the hospital, and he's just undergone a tomography. Could be bad. He's a fragile player, like Brooks (and Agudelo somewhat).
Generally speaking, is the recovery for a calf-muscle injury less difficult than for a knee sprain? At any rate, I hope it is not severe.
Well, if they bothered to take a tomography, it may be more serious than a simple strain. We'll have to wait.
The Nuremberg site says the first diagnosis did not look good and he could be out for months. "Die ersten Diagnosen nach Spielschluss lassen nichts gutes verlauten. Demnach drohen Chandler und Ginczek monatelang auszufallen. " http://www.nordbayern.de/sport/pech-pur-ginczek-und-chandler-drohen-lange-pausen-1.3445295
Yeah the comments I'm reading on their social media make it sound like this may be a season-ending thing. Bayern first goal came from a cross on the right, a few minutes after Chandler was injured:
Pretty grim day in Germany for YA's. Chandler injured. Johnson didn't make it off the bench. Brooks didn't even make the bench. Edit: And Cherundolo is listed as out injured for tomorrow's match vs. Schalke.
http://www.nordbayern.de/sport/pech-pur-ginczek-und-chandler-fallen-lange-aus-1.3445295 Außenmeniskusriss = outside meniscus tear? Don't know what that means, but it is apparently a knee injury and it doesn't sound good. Certainly worse than a calf problem. Just when it seemed he might get a look again from the national team...
tear of the meniscus is the least serious knee injury, though it is still not good. You do not actually need your meniscus for knee function though it is nice to have.
