I voted for Pikes Peak Rangers FC. Ironically I'm in CS this week but leave before Friday's announcement.
Not from the area, but I liked CS Rangers FC. I thought the Rapids were supposed to be in on this and was looking for CS Rapids.
big welcome to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC http://www.burgundywave.com/2014/1/24/5343072/colorado-springs-switchbacks-fc-usl-pro
Any idea where they are going to play? Kind of an odd name, but it could grow on me. When I was little, Rochester came up with the Raging Rhinos, I thought it odd at first, but I still attended tons of matches.
Believe me Switchbacks isn't the worst name out there. The minor league baseball team around me are the Biscuits.
There's an NBA team named the "Pelicans", if you haven't heard. And an MLB team named the "Bluejays". Nothing intimidates an opposing team like the "Bluejays". Bird of prey (if you're a grasshopper)
there was a team called the Macon Whoopee that played in the ECHL Don't mind the Switchbacks will be interesting to see how they develop the logo.

It should be noted that, as lined, Sand Creek Stadium's field is 121x81 yards. Easily the biggest-lined soccer field in this country. Take into account that CS is higher than Denver by over 700 feet... Hopefully they work on Sand Creek. There's plenty of room to build a decent minor-league stadium right where they are.
From a reddit AMA with Rapids President Tim Hinchey: Question: What can you say about the USL-Pro team in CO Springs? Can we expect an announcement regarding teaming up with them in the near future? Answer: We will not be partnering that USL team.
I wouldn't expect an answer on a partner for teams that don't already have USL Pro partners until much closer to next season.
Indeed. Which is why I expected to read a non-answer like "We are exploring all our options for next year, but for now we're staying in the reserve league, blah blah." Instead they said they will not be partners with them. So it sure sounds like they aren't interested.
Sounded pretty Shermanesque to me, too. Maybe they're just playing hard to get. Because it's kind of hard to imagine the Rapids' front office looking down their noses at someone who may or may not have their shit together, isn't it?
