Lol Li Yuanyi hits the post with an open net after good work from nr 22, the resulting corner ends up with a disallowed goal after an uzbeki defender was pushed to the ground.

China U-22 fails to make it out of the group stage with their second loss 2-1. Saudi Arabia won off a penalty. Still a match against Iraq up next.

Yeah it was a really bad call. The guy went down too easily and judging by the way he celebrated to the penalty call, it's like he was gunning for it.

Three odd goal losses. Not much to say really. It was a tough group and i don't think anyone expected us to advance, given the history with this team. Fu Bo lead them a couple of years ago in the U-19 aswell but it didnt go too well then either. We used to be quite strong on the youth front but the recent generations have really been a letdown. But maybe its the other countries improving faster rather than us declining. Still a shame though

Both Iraq and Saudi Arabia made it to the final, if it's any consolation

Liu Binbin deserved a call up seeing as he's not a part of the senior squad. He's been playing really well for Shandong all season. Wang Tong was one of the best for this team during the Toulon Cup so it's a notable that he's been left out as well. Xu Xin was also a standout performer during Toulon, but haven't followed him during his season so can't say. Wang Shangyuan didn't perform at Toulon nor has he played a single minute for Club Brugge so i understand that omission. Would've liked to see Zhang Xizhe here as he's not in the senior squad, but as clubs are not obligated to send their players i can understand if some clubs have turned them down

Pretty sure Zhang Xizhe is too old. He is 23. Don't understand why Liu Binbin wasn't called.

It follows the Olympic rules which is U-23 so players born 91 and younger are eligible. Also 3 overaged players are allowed to participate, which i've never understood why. China has brought a relatively young squad, all players are born 93 or younger so you could say it's an U-21 squad

China plays North Korea tomorrow in the opening group game in the Asian Games. As this is a group with only three teams, a win here for either team pretty much secures advancement. The third team is Pakistan. As said earlier in this thread China has brought an U-21 team who consist purely of players born 1993, which I assume is preparation for the 2016 Olympics.

Not a easy game versus North Korea, they are strong at this youth level.
