I'm trying to decide between the new adiZeros, the Vapor IX, and the Hypervenoms. Anyone have any experience with them?
I would say your first qualifier should be foot shape: The adiZeros have a very narrow toebox, the Hypervenoms will accommodate wider feet and Vapors are somewhere in between. At the moment, I'd lean towards the Hypervenoms - the upper's fantastic, the soleplate's pretty great; they're absolutely one of the best boots in the game at the moment, in my opinion. However, as mentioned, if you've got a narrow foot and want something snug, the F50's are up there, too. Just in the interest of balance; the Vapors were my #1 go-to boots before the other boots you mentioned were released, but I just find the soleplate on the Hypervenom better for comfort for me and the upper a little softer.
Thanks for the response. My foot isn't wide, so that's one of my concerns with the hypervenoms. Certain reviews have said that if your foot isn't wide the shoe can have some unwanted room causing rollover when doing sharp cuts. As for the adiZeros, I haven't had good experiences with them, it was mostly down to the fit and how poorly they locked my heel. The last one I tried was the first miCoach, but I've heard only positive things about the new model. And I agree, I've always been a vapor fan and haven't had a bad experience with them (except durability). The only reason I haven't gotten the IXs yet is because the lack of good colorways. At the moment, I'm leaning towards the hypervenoms.
Has anyone bought the pantofola laces from prodirect? http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/Prod...fola-d'Oro-Accessories-White-51659.aspx?spr=1 I love my (black) copas but the laces are starting to fall apart. I just want to know whether or not these ones are thick and old fashioned, like the copas, or are they more modern and thin?
Heel lockdown in the new F-50 is one of the best aspects of the boot. If you are looking for a synthetic boot with a snug fit and a great feel, you can't go wrong. It shades the current Vapor, IMO. I don't find the HV to be overly wide, but it is the widest of the three boots and the most accommodating to my foot type. You can get laces that are thicker and "old fashioned" in a variety of places other than PDS and probably way cheaper than Pantofola brand laces once you eliminate shipping costs.
Hey guys, I just got some indoor mercurials and this time I wanted to get boots without any extra space between my toes and the end of the shoe. After a while it got uncomfortable to the point I could't play anymore. When I got home I saw I had blisters in my pinky toes. Do you think this is just a matter of breaking them in eventually or do you think I got a size too small?
The mercurial series is generally not known for levels of comfort. Even though the indoor version are made of lesser materials, i believe that it is just part of the breaking in process. Either wear double socks next time, or wear anti-blister patches on the exposed spots such as Compeed. If the blistering continues after 4-5 wears, then you probably bought them too small. Hope this helps.
I'm gonna make a trip down to Hong Kong next month, I hear there are alot of good football boot deals and steals there.. anyone got an idea where I should be looking?
I went there in October and everything is overpriced, especially anything with a Nike or Adidas branding.
Try futbol trend http://www.futboltrend.com/site/sc/futbol/home/storelocation.html or elevens http://www.elevens.com.hk/
There are a couple of sports shops at Ladies Street. You will find/see them and no, they are not women's football gear haha. To me, in HK the boots are now not too cheap nor beyond expensive, just expensive.
Any tips on breaking in cleats if you are not able to play in them? Winter here in Sweden and I do not want to use my FG cleats on turf. Would wearing them (sitting still) indoors help or is it just a waste of time?
Anyone recommend any of the current boots out there for someone as myself with wide feet? These are the few ive tried so far and my experiences to help out a bit Vapor 9's - Yes im an idiot for using them with wide feet lol but i really did enjoy the feel on the ball with them unfortunately I need to accept my feet are simply not suited for those. Nitrocharges- Were okay, fit nicely but the material just seems to not soften up at all. Any recommendations on what I should get? Been thinking between the Maestri 3's / Tiempo's or Adizeros
I'm going to address several questions here. Per the laces: There are various options, but something like this is for my money the best type of lace: http://www.onlinesports.com/ultra-s..._-NV-MW-SL72&gclid=CML_iI3Qq7wCFacDOgodVT8AOQ Those are the 72 inch option which are great if you wrap around your foot and tie. Go for a 54 inch if you want shorter. Ultra-Sport are the way to go, flat or round.....Google is your friend. Per the indoor boots: Indoor models are traditionally less prone to stretching because of the lipped structure that goes up around the toes. Couple that with most being made of cheap plastic these days and you have a stiff, inflexible, boot. In the days of most boots being leather a lot of dealers suggested going 1/2 a size up vs. your usual size, especially if you rocked them super snug, to accommodate the rubber toe lip. My suggestion is go up 1/2 size and double sock if you want really snug or try the 1/2 up and wear it around your house/store for 30 mins. See how it feels for a while. You'd be surprised how much positive difference a tad of room can make if you're currently going too small. That is coming from a guy that did way too small for years and recently went up, but still very snug. For breaking in while not playing, I am a huge advocate of wearing them in the shower or even a hot tub. This works very well with good leather boots and some better synthetics. Get them soaked and wear them around for as long as you can, even to sleep. Don't worry about the hot water damaging them. That is nonsense perpetrated by lack of critical thinking and plain stupid groupthink.
My suggestion is look for something with a pretty rounded shape and either stretching ability (leather or NikeSkin) or wide last in synthetic. The HyperVenoms is a great option for wide feet and if you like the Vapor, you would most likely enjoy the HV. Adidas 11Pro - current model not the original. The leather adiZero is wider and will expand with your foot once it breaks in. The new Puma EvoPower is supposed to be very wide (subjective). The Copa will accommodate even the widest of feet after some breaking in. The Morlia Japan is very round and his a higher volume toe box, which is great for wider feet. The adiPower is also very round and breaks in well....if it doesn't break first. Any Total90 Laser would be good, especially the leather or the KangaLite models. The Legend IV is pretty round and breaks in well with use. The Puma PowerCat is wide and round. The Puma King Top and Classic are very wide and round. Umbro Speciali - originals and more recent models
Not offering a review on a pair of boots, but what site do you guys think is the best for review purposes? SoccerBible's play tests just don't give me enough info. Please be gentle as this is my first BigSoccer posting and I tried to make sure I followed all the rules of the forum.
many peoples go to's are either soccercleats101 (just google) or on youtube there is http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUU3lMXc6iDrQw4eZen8COQ soccer reviews for you and http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5SQGzkWyQSW_fe-URgq7xw unisport also do great reviews
SoccerCleats101 just reads like a long list of the boot specs...was not really impressed by anything on that site... SoccerReviewsForYou has a site though, and I really liked it as the reviews seemed much more in depth... Thanks David89!
Obvious plug is obvious: http://www.footy-boots.com/category/football-boot-review/ There's a few reviewers here on the board, so don't be shy about asking questions. @vujojosh is SR4u, @Bootboy is goalsandgear.com, @JayMike-DK is Unisport and, of course, @Dr. Boots has a site but pretty much writes a review in every post!
