My brother brought home a PS4 the other day. The new dualshock might be the best controller I've ever used, even better than the 360 controller. I can't wait to see how developers utilize the touch pad (Just dicking around in the playroom is fun). He got the camera as well, which I recommend.
WOOO!!! My PS4 was delivered last night and man the new dualshock controller is gooooood. The extra width to the dualshock thanks to the touchpad, the shape, feel, and responsiveness of L2 and R2 buttons, and the convex with ridge around it layout of the thumb sticks is all fantastic. As someone who disliked the PS3 XMB and never felt at home using it the new XMB layout didn’t take long to feel comfortable with. Funny enough after using the PS4 XMB I feel like I better understood what Sony was aiming for with the PS3’s. Probably the biggesest improvement so far personally is the download speeds for updates, patches, and games. For me (with a wired connection, sometimes straight to my router) PS3 downloads for patches/updates/games could at time take hours. On the PS4 though, I’d say total time it took for me to download the initial updates and Resogun before I was playing my first run of the game was just under a half hour. Tonight I hope to dive in deeper and see how the party system works and joining up with friends. @Goodsport, I would love to share PSN ID's with ya so I could have more friends on my Resogun leaderboard. Mine is oopprraahh, feel free to send me a friend request if yr interested.
That sounds great. Looking forward to E3 and see what upcoming games are in the works. Got any other games for the system, except a 2d sidescroller?
Other than Resogun I've downloaded Blacklight Retribution and I also redownloaded Flower, I heard good things about the port job Thatgamecompany did. Only game I've bought so far though is AssCreed: BlackFlag, plan to buy FIFA14 tonight and either Battlefield4 or Killzone:Shadowfall.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed the HUGE improvement in the Dualshock. The PS3 controller was absolutely awful for FPS games. The PS4 dualshock feels much better.
AND my PS4 is a lemon. Not sure what exactly is wrong but I can't play a full game of anything but Resogun. I put in Black Flag and the game can't even get to the Ubisoft screen.
How does the party system on the ps4 work? like on the xbox 360 y0u can have a party of up to 8 people playing different games all talking to each other… but on the ps3 you had to be in the same game as the person to talk to them, thus making it harder to talk to your friends
Replaced my defective unit and so far so good. Actually got to see the title screen for Black Flag and didn't even have a crash playing Battlefield. Yes party system pretty much works just like the 360, so you can be playing one thing while your friends are playing something else and still be chatting with them. Really happy Sony added the feature, makes it so much easier to meet up and play with friends online.
Mine is too, plays for 2 hours and completely shuts down and won't turn back on for hours. Then when it does come back I get the flashing blue light thing until I mess with the cords.
Sent it back to Amazon. Worked out well as the the rep I talked to specifically said to return only the PS4 but I received the a whole new box back. Free controller and cords for me, score.
Dang that is pretty sweet. And here I was thinking the additional $10 in PSN credit I got with my replacement system was a huge score.
Watching gameplay, it reminds me a bit of Amnesia. Seems like all the good games on the new gen consoles are these downloadable non-retail games.
its a non combat ,psychological game. You have to escape an asylum by hiding , crawling through air vents, jumping , climbing ,etc.. while hiding from dangerous enemies and managing a limited battery supply for a night vision camera.. Every moment in the game you are asking yourself questions about how to move forward without getting killed.
Dust:Elysian Tail and Spelunky came out for PS+ yesterday, two outstanding games. What was awesome was that it took less than ten minutes to download/install the two of them. Sony really improved PSN download speeds on the PS4, it would have taken a good thirty minutes to just download one of those games on the PS3.
Anybody had their nat setting change from open to moderate on it's own? If so, were ya able to get it set back to open without portforwarding or setting up a static IP?
So what do you think Gamestop or one of the like will give me for trade-in on a 4 year old PS3? I may be in the market for a PS4 or xbone.
How big of a harddrive does it have? If it's 120gb or higher and you buy a Xboxone Gamestop will give ya $125 in credit. I would guess Gamestop would give you $50-75 for a PS4.
