Premier League Sunday, December 8, 10:00 AM (CT) on NBCS, mun2 Emirates Stadium I think it's safe to say that after 4 straight victories without conceding a goal that our boys have responded well after losing to United. It's massive that we continue this run and win at home to Everton. They are coming off a huge win vs United at OT and they'll be up for it. Luckily, our boys seem to gelling and we rotated vs Hull which will be huge for us. Let's keep our feet grounded and support the boys as they give it their all vs this impressive Everton side. KILL! COYG!
really glad this is at home. I expect a win. Thanks for starting the thread. May you start many many many more threads!,
Our defense is really playing on another planet right now, and we certainly have momentum. I am curious about what sort of lineup we go with, as I think the boss has an eye on a full strength squad against Napoli, and the City game staring us at the other end of the week is a huge one as well. This is a big 3 points for us though, with the game against another top of table team. We need to take full points from this one. I hope to see something like: Giroud Santi Ozil Wilshere Arteta Flamini Gibbs Kos Merte Sanga Shez Yes, I know sacrilige to have Ramsey not be in there, but he has played more than anyone else yet this year and although he obviously has that huge motor, I think we need to rest him before the coming matches and trust in our squad to be strong enough at home to pull the points without him.
Always had a fear that if Martinez went to the right club his style of football would be trouble against anybody. Everton are no pushovers right now, especially since they just beat Man U at OT.
Keep up the good work Kevin. I was a bit sad to pass you the reins but you're doing a terrific job. Long may you be the thread starter.
we seem to be playing a shit ton of home games... w/out looking at the rest of the schedule, we probably have a tough run in. time for koscielny to put another striker in his pocket. #lukaku
Everton seems legit this year. This will be a real test. Lukaku is a monster in the Drogba mode. We have to figure out a way to mark him out of the game. I'd put Flamini on him. Chesney Sagna Kos BFG Gibbs Arteta Flamini Ramsey Ozil Giroud Caz
They play good offense which means they will go forward, which means we should have a nice counter attack this game. Sagna----Kos--Mert---Gibbs Arteta-----Ramsey ------------Ozil-------------- Wilshere--Giroud----Cazorla
Flamini now injured. So Arteta---Ramsey it is. I wonder if we will ever see Wilshere--Ramsey or Arteta---Wilshere this season. Matter of fact, wonder if Wilshere will ever play the CM this season.
Flamini huh? I saw quite a few knocks on our players last night but I didn't notice Flamini. What happened? Also I just checked Arsenal.com and he's not listed. But Sagna is listed w/ "slight hamstring" problem... that I wasn't aware of... I thought he was just being rested yesterday and that Jenks was discretionary. Not too worried about that though as long as Jenks doesn't implode in some way... which I don't really expect. Flamini is a concern though, depending on how long it is.
We play more of a 4-2-3-1, and so given your players it would look more like: Arteta - Flamini Ramsey - Ozil - Caz
Jenks - Kossacker - Gibbs Arteta - Wilshere Walcott - Rosicky - Cazorla Giroud Ozil has to be rested at some point. Or is Wenger planning on Fabregassing him into the ground?
Says here, just undergoing a test. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...-star-flamini-undergoes-tests-on-groin-injury Flamini is a tough one, so I expect him to be available. I hate to say it, but I think we rest Ramsey and Ozil to start and if we need a goal, we bring them on. I think the below should be enough to win it. Szcz Jenks Kos BFG Gibbs Jack Flamini Rosicky Theo Giroud Cazorla
You're probably right, but there was at least once yesterday that he appeared to sigh with exhaustion.
Agreed that he's tough when he takes a painful knock in the game, but is he tough enough to withstand long-term injury? I believe he missed a big amount of time at Milan due to injury... not sure if that's why he didn't seem to excel there. If it's a groin, they should be cautious and let him rest it, as those can be quite long-term if he "really" does it. I didn't follow Ozil before, e.g at Madrid, but I've been thinking that's just his style, mannerism. He doesn't look upbeat & happy a lot. But who cares... if he can produce amazing throughballs, many assists, and periodic goals himself.
We have six outfield players who will almost always start: Giroud, Ramsey, Ozil, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Sagna. Until proven otherwise, I don't think Wenger will ever rest more than one of Ramsey/Ozil/Giroud in a league game. They're just too important to our offensive game plan. Same with Mertesacker, Koscielny, and Sagna on defense. Giroud got a well-deserved rest yesterday and Sagna was out for injury. I think it's Ozil's turn against Everton with Ramsey getting a break against Napoli, or maybe the other way around. I DO think this forum is more concerned about fitness than Wenger is, otherwise he would've pulled both Ozil and Ramsey after our second goal vs Hull. This gives me confidence that the team is still at strong fitness levels overall. Honestly, I'd rather play a slightly stronger lineup vs Everton than vs Napoli. A draw at Naples is the same as a win, and a loss by 2 still puts us through to the next round (albeit likely against Bayern/Real/Barca/PSG). Everton, however, is a game that needs to be won.
That makes sense. We're going to have to go defensive in Naples, anyway, so we can rest Ozil then, methinks.
Hello fellow Gunners, Hope all is well & will continue to be better. I am little nervous about this game. I watched the replay how Everton bossed around Man U at their own back yard. They are for real. I pray Sagna is ready for this game...C.J seems to be a little nervous and he needs to settle well....anyhow here is my pick for this game.... =======NO REST FOR THIS DUDE====== ===SANGA===BFG===KOS===GIBBS =======TATA======RAMBO====== ===ROSICKY====OZIL=====SANTI C. =============OG============== WILL sub Rosicky for WILCOT & Santi for Wilshere ....may be Montreal if we need to tighten the defense BE WELL AND DO GOOD ALL GUNNERS!!!!!!
