Haha, It's never like these youtube gameplay clips for me when I play. They always seem to flank a group of unaware enemies and slaughter with ease. When I'm lucky enough to flank a group unnoticed I eat lead after my first kill, that is, if the 1st potential victim doesn't somehow magically whirl around and one-shot me. Climbing up on those high points with no cover never works for me either. I'm also disappointed with aim assist. I've read so much about it being easy-mode but it really doesn't do all that much for me. I've seen videos of people hitting L1 (aim on PS3) and the aim-assist will snap to the target as long as they have aimed within a few feet of them. I must be doing something wrong because my aim doesn't consistently snap to the target. Anywho, the DLC looks great and I'm getting my hands on it ASAP.
Also, besides the double XP earned in multiplayer play from Thursday, November 28th to Thursday, December 5th, don't forget to also log into multiplayer on December 5th to receive a free M1911 pistol scope, which was previously reserved only for the DICE developers. -G
I hear that. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/battlefield-4.1994151/page-3#post-29113567 Played 3 rounds of Conquest last night. After the first one, going through all the post-match awards/unlocks/etc, thanks to both the double XP and the 25% battlepack XP boost, I ranked up to 10 (Lance Corporal V). Going into the 2nd round, I saw the promotion didn't "stick" (yet again), but dealt with it. After the 2nd round, even though my team lost, I ranked up to 10 and, after the dust had settled with all the bonus scoring stuff (Conquest Service Star/double XP/etc), I hit 11 (Corporal) and it stuck.
China Rising has been downloaded. I'll jump in after the football. EDIT - The cluster******** continues. Via Battlelog: "WE ARE AWARE OF AN ISSUE WITH CHINA RISING SERVERS ON XBOX 360 NOT BEING JOINABLE, WE HAVE FOUND THE ROOT CAUSE AND A FIX WILL BE DEPLOYED TOMORROW MORNING."
Are the servers up for China Rising now? Anyone play yet today? If so, did you get the 3X scope for the M1911? I played before work this morning - somehow had some free time - played a Team DM round, but didn't see the scope unlocked/awarded? Do you think you actually need the M1911 in order to receive it? I don't have it available to me yet. DICE is delaying future DLC until the game is fixed. http://gamerant.com/battlefield-4-dlc-delay-fix-problems/
So I finally got around to playing the campaign, I'm only at the point where you get on the carrier, but I'm not all that impressed. What really annoys me is that when I try to download China Rising, which should be free for me, it keeps saying that they will charge me $49.99 WTF is that about.
I'm through with BF4 and I haven't even finished it. Played a few hours yesterday, got to the Kunlun Mountains mission right where you take the cable car off the mountain. Saved it, went to boot it up today and there's no save game there, when I click on resume campaign it brings me back to the checkpoint where the tanks start battling in Singapore, before you get to the airfield. There's no way I'm going through all of that again. I'm trading the game in. I'm extremely annoyed.
With games like this I play a level or two to get used to the controls but after that I usually don't bother. The experience Is simply poor to bother.
The campaigns lately are usually pretty short in length, so I'll hit that before jumping into multiplayer to, as you said, get used to the controls, etc. Especially on launch day when it's pretty much guaranteed that the servers won't be uber stable. Given the save issues BF4 had in the campaign (have they been resolved?), as soon as I lost my progress I dove into multiplayer and haven't looked back. Maybe I will someday when that itch needs to be scratched. Some people couldn't care less about the campaign and play games solely for the multiplayer side of things, while others prefer the storytelling side of things. I'm curious how, then, a "constantly online" game that blurs the lines between SP/MP like Titanfall will appeal to both groups.
Dice should just make Bad Company the default campaign for the series. It may not carry the weight/importance that Dice thinks a numbered Battlefield release should have, but Bad Company was the last campaign I enjoyed from them. That is the big thing I would love Respawn to go into detail about. Their big "there are different Titans" reveal this past weekend was more of a, "Didn't we already know this?" moment.
I started the campaign a week or two ago, took a break and came back last night to see that I had no saved games. Another I have is with Multiplayer not letting me join a server for Team DM. It will let me join any other game but that one.
I read yesterday that a law firm specializing in class action suits has started to investigate EA/Dice.
More BF4 patching going out today. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forum/threadview/2979150493744270561/
Not a fan of China rising thus far. On Conquest there's just too much open space. I biked it around capping objectives and only saw (and killed) two people all game. The bombing runs just makes it a camp-a-thon. The nature of the maps also results in far more spawn camping (particularly hiding behind the walls on the perimeter of Silk Road in Domination) and stupidly designed choke-points that kill the game. Patch wise I luckily avoided most of those issues.
Sadly I experienced too many issues with BF4 so I traded it with someone for CoD: Ghosts, which I'm actually enjoying much more.
Haven't all the mainline Battlefield maps been designed for 64 players? Sorry if I asked this already but how do I tag enemies?
I thought I read that that maps for the current (aka next) gen consoles (XBone, PS4) were scaled up to accommodate 64 total players, whereas the maps were smaller for the previous gen. Like spotting them in game? I believe it's the right shoulder button now.
Coulda been. I've always assumed the only maps designed for smaller player totals were for the Bad Company Series. Yup, that is what I was trying to ask about. Thanks.
