we HAD an excellent library on the island. In the last election it was voted out on funding by something like 10 votes. The high school smoking room received funds though. Victory.
After borrowing a van and moving about fifty boxes of books from our upstairs rooms at the place we're renting and hauling them to the upstairs rooms at the place we're buying... I'm becoming a slightly bigger fan of Kindle. Well, at least my quadriceps and lower back are.
I'm only in my 30s but I said "to hell with moving myself" a few moves ago and it's the best money I've ever spent. I was able to get reputable local movers for only a couple of hundred bucks. It ruled.
We're getting them for the furniture, etc. Not sure if we're saving any money by hauling our books and kitchenware ourselves. Force of habit mostly. Personally, I still can't believe I'm too old to rent a U-haul and get a dozeen to 20 friends to help out by giving them pizza and beer at the new place. And don't get me started on my prostate!
Well, as long as you're not getting a Budget truck (I own a U-Haul dealership) Yeah, my last move was the last one I am doing with friend-power. Never again...
my last move was into a lovely little house whose previous owners had such horrible taste that every floor and wall covering, every lighting fixture, even the sinks and toilets needed replacing before it was bearable to live in. not to mention a garden that looked like ward cleaver's might after 5-10 years of criminal negligence. moving just slipped through the cracks of all the work i had gotten myself into.
