I know they couldnt keep Thauvin because he refused to play but when they sold him Seydoux said something stupid like we sold Thauvin so we could keep Kalou and that pissed me off. Payet is failing in Marseille so looks like Lille wins that one. Maybe I'll like this club more when Seydoux leaves.
Garcia had him playing alone up front and now he plays with Kalou up front which is why he's doing better.
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the one man up top, unless you have a beast #9, with pace and size. I think I've seen Lille play 3 times and Roux has 4 or 5 goals.
All anybody can hope for is for LOSC to be somewhat competitive. It doesn't matter who their owner is (exclusive of an Arab or Russian) or how new their stadium is or how much money it generates. Two teams have the wherewithal to spend big money on transfers. Nobody else can financially compete with PSG and Monaco. Plus Hollande is attempting to emasculate the league with his ridiculous tax policies negating any chance of teams holding on to decent talent in the future. So all any Ligue 1 fan can aspire to is for their team to be entertaining domestically and forget about Europe. LOSC is in no worse shape with Seydoux than they would be with somebody else, IMO.
payet? failing? that's only because he's a stiff, always was and will be. one of the most overrated players i've ever seen in france.

Wanted just to report here that Lille have signed Marcos Lopes from Man City on loan. I think it's actually a big deal because he's quite a talent. Not last season but season before that he was Man City academy's player of the year and I think he's quality. Would not be surprised if next season he would make a big impact in the team.
I mentioned in Ligue 1 thread how they are doing a good job in the transfer window and the only guy they might lose is someone who hardly played (Origi) They keep the Basa-Kjaer hing in tact and added Corchia to the right side. They also extended Marvin Martin which I think you have to give him another chance. The only bad thing is losing Soloman Kalou probably but Im sure they can get a good player from the Origi sale.
btw, i thought he was dreadful last night against sweden. i mean, who else but payette could start such a dazzling run to just make it fizzle out all by himself, and then decide on the option of flopping a blobby shot 5 meters off-frame?
As bad a half of football from any home side I have ever seen against Evian. Its embarrassing to watch them attempt to attack. Hopefully it livens up with an early 2nd half goal but 0-0 or 0-1 looks most likely.
Great attacking subs on for Lille has totally changed their mentality. 1-0 nice strike by one of those subs Traore
sorry for the thread bump...some pretty disturbing images here: https://en.as.com/en/2018/03/10/football/1520722563_443805.html
