If there's no room up front because the defence has dropped deep, you solve it in a number of ways. You can drop deep and create space and chances for others. Or you play with back to goal and work to try and get a good touch to hold the ball, a good turn and a good shot. Or you keep laying the ball off to midfield runners. Benzema did none of that today.

I've missed Van Nistelrooy ever since he left, and Benzema has done nothing to reproduce that feeling of knowing that you have a top, top striker in your team. He's shown flashes of brilliance but it's not enough.

The guy who uttered those words isn't very famous. What the F happened to him? It was on the only GREAT snoop dogg albumn, in fact, the only albumn snoop ever created which was awesome. But the guy singing the lyrics you pointed out, never ever amounted to much. I don't even remember his name.

the biggest problem i have with him is his workrate is zero. his touch was so poor today. should be starting with morata the next game. give the kid a chance. he deserves it. ur views?

I don't know if Morata is the solution, he missed a very good chance at the end which we would slaughter Benzema for if he'd missed. What I like about him is his attitude. He had some verbals with an Atletico defender in a way that I didn't expect, I like that sort of confidence from a youngster.

Benzema is a different kind of striker from RVN. He doesn't play like that. I don't want him to change his style, just to be more assertive. Demand the ball, run with it, take long shots. He can do all of these things, but its like he doesn't have the confidence for it.

I'm all for giving Ancelotti some patience but it's time to rattle Benzy's cage a bit, bench him in the league for Morata and please start Dani at RB.

Khedira put a battle in the middle of the park, he was our most prominent midfielder throughout the game. He also intercepted a few balls, and was running like a mad man pressuring Atletico's midfield well. I am willing to accept that his passing in the final third was bad, but he tried, and he was player who delivered the cross which Morata nearly translated into a goal after a wonder bicycle kick.

Even though he did not even any aerial ball, but he managed 86% pass accuracy (more than Illarra who managed 80% which is also good), and completed three tackles which is more than some of our defenders.

For me Khedira done his job. I was mostly disappointed by Benzema, Isco, and to some extent Bale.

Carlo still has my trust. I don't understand what he is trying to do ( trying to defend 1-0 against Elche? That's not who we are) as of yet, but he is world famous manager, not me- maybe it will work out well in the end. However, I think we should stop hiring names ( Mourinho, Ancelotti and don't forget Luxemburgo) and get a Madrid man( I have nobody in my mind particularly), somebody who knows the club, somebody who understands who we are and how fans expects us to play. Our last successful manager was Madrid man through and through. These names come to our club with their own ideas how the game should be played, trying to adjust players to their playing style, doesn't matter that they played completely different football just few months ago. It takes time to get it right, team to gel- but Real Madrid fans are hungry for success and getting impatient pretty quickly. Just an opinion.

Why did we change Di Maria for Bale? Wtf did Bale do? At least Di Maria created some chances and no he was not at fault for the goal. He got tackled due to the insane pressure by atletico. Would have happened to anyone. The defense was caught sleeping with the through ball and costa's run. Anyway they could have had 5 goals. Who's fault is that? The whole system sucks ass

Zidane will get his chance soon if things carry on like this.

I like Ancelotti but he should have got his shit together by now. Say what you want about Mourinho, but he knew how to change things for the better during games. Even today, Chelsea played shit first half and then came out and battered Spurs second half. Today nothing really changed with the subs or the set-up, even though it never looked like it was going to work.

I want to see Varane back. Offense needs a better approach than: Cross the ball in every time and pray we miraculously score a header. Seriously, we were offensively castrated by our city rivals.

Ancelotti should have expected this display from Atletico. Not "this kind of display", but this exactly. They played the same game against Barca away only with less success in front of goal, there are no secrets to their game against stronger opposition. Diego Costa is a handfull, but he was getting it his way too often tonight.
Again, the most frustrating thing were those long balls from our back line. The amount of time they wasted in last 20 minutes with those balls is just horrible. They don't even give the chance to our midfielders to get to the ball and it's killing our game because it completely disables us from keeping sustained pressure in those last minutes of the game.

Zidane isn't my choice for a manager (personally I'd have Laudrup). But if Carlo gets knocked out early in the CL and we are still playing like we have been in the Liga recently, Zidane is going to be a stop-gap.
