Maryland-UNC ended 2-2, which is likely a fair result. Terps defense was much better when Dakota Edwards came on. That's a good sign for them.

UC Irvine dominating the stat sheet against Louisville but only leading 1-0.

    Goal by Lester Hayes.

I get the feeling Omar Holness will be one-and-done at UNC.

I liked what I saw of Crognale, as well, although there's less of a hurry in his case.

VCU stuns Akron's 1-0 to spoil their home opener despite being outshot 7-2. VCU scored off a header from a long free kick.

    Glory Glory to Ramnation!!

Hopefully the admission is free at UAB, because the goals have been hard to come by. Not only do Memphis-ETSU end in a 0-0 tie, but UAB and Charlotte are tied 0-0 in the 88th minute. UAB had a red card issued in the 31st minute. Charlotte had a red card issued in the 31st minute and the 36th minute.

That's # 14 Maryland and #7 Akron within the last week. VCU fans are getting excited. We were worried after 4-0 loss in our home opener but since then we're rolling. VCU fans are starting to get that 2004 excitement again. (That's back when we made a run for the championship but just couldn't get there. Since that run we went in a slump until Gif came here from Akron)

UAB and Charlotte going to 2nd OT still tied at 0-0. Charlotte still leads in red cards 2-1.

7-2 isn't even close to an accurate assessment as to how against the run of play that goal came. But full credit to VCU for making two long free kicks in the center of the pitch into dangerous chances and for putting one of them away, something Akron couldn't do for all the possession and chances they had.

After the first 25 minutes especially, you'd have a hard time believing Akron would end up with zero at the end of the match. It took VCU that long to put more than two passes together (and that's not much of an exaggeration - the pressure was ridiculous from Akron, but they did nothing with it).

Well, back-to-back own goals in CP-Penn game within a minute of each other... that is just crazy. 1-1. We're in the 34th minute.

Not gonna argue the pressure Akron brought. They pressed VCU like crazy when they didn't have the ball and acted like possessed animals on the attack. When VCU scored they became like angry hornets and almost got themselves into trouble with some tackles of out of desperation to get the ball back whenever VCU had possession. VCU's touches are particularly bad tonight but that might have been just the setting and atmosphere being alot for such a young team. Remember this team is basically new. That's why these wins are making VCU fans so excited. We're seeing them grow up so fast despite being together a few games and these players will be around a long time. The idea of the college cup finally coming to Richmond is beginning to feel real. My buds and I get to know all the coaches at VCU and first thing Gif said to us when we met privately after he came here was "I'm telling you this right now I came here because I believe I can bring a national championships to VCU. Bring the College Cup to this city."

I thought the rain hurt us personally. Our touches were quite poor because of it and caused us to lose control of the ball different times.. Not to mention on more than one occasion I saw one of our players fall over due to the wet ground. I'm quite impressed we could pull off a free kick like we did to score considering the conditions. Here in Richmond this time of the year is humid with temps around 80 to upper 90s. Not a lot of rain in the area either. Lucky our grounds crew is awesome so our field is in top shape but we're use to dry conditions here until about mid October to November. That's why teams coming from colder areas get messed up. It's like Houston's stadium. That's teams coming into RVA FC and Kickers this years from different climates got jacked up. The humidity and heat killed them.
