very good compilation of all bale goals this season, terrific!!! hope to see him in the same jersey again!!!
Here are some of our youth players at a tourney in Latvia... I think. It's called the Riga Cup. Indoors. Pretty awesome stuff to be honest. U-13's U-16's There are more games on the channel so take a look. http://www.youtube.com/user/rigacup?feature=watch Some quality youngsters in the midfield at both levels. U-16 has a good solid box to box guy. Like his style.
Dont know if this has been uploaded here before but it gives me chills. What an incredible video: WE ARE TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
It was his choice. You can't keep someone who doesn't want you. Never works. In love and soccer (and most everything else), you gotta let people do what their heart desires, or they will undermine others' success, and often their own.
i know it's all ancient history now (and i may have posted this here before), but ... a good friend of mine (who's quite into footy) is a professor of biology at the local university. he's from frankfurt, and spends his summers in germany, arriving back in indiana in the middle of august. when he came back last summer, i asked him what, if anything, he'd heard about van der vaart's return to HSV. he said that he'd actually just seen an interview with him (i'd give you the source, but i've no idea) on german television in which he'd said that he didn't have any intention of leaving spurs until AVB informed him that he wouldn't be getting minutes. it struck me as odd because you'd think, having just returned to HSV (where he was/is hugely popular), he'd've been giving a more 'i wanted to get back to this club' line, and also because there were rumors going on then about it being in his family's interests that he go back. i mentioned the family bit to vinnie (my friend), and he just said, "i don't know about any of that. all he said was that villas-boas didn't want him." now, i can't verify any of that; but i've no reason to think vinnie would've made up anything like that. my guess is, given the way that VDV struggled with mourinho's quite technical tactics, relished harry's, shall we say, less sophisticated ones, and the likelihood that AVB's would be much more like the former, that neither party was terribly interested in working with the other. but according to van der vaart (according to my pal), he didn't want away.
yea that was the general news i read too. we sold him b/c AVB had no intention of using him and I think we actually made money on Rafa. It's a shame really... I do struggle to think of where he would've fit in AVB's 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. he was really fantastic behind a lone striker
it was also done quickly and we didn't - despite making a profit - get top money for him; which is not how levy tends to deal with players we'd prefer to keep. i'd've preferred that he responded to the situation more like dawson, but that'd be an awful lot to ask, and in the end you can't really complain as he's clearly not an AVB-type player. as to where he'd've fit into our midfield, well, where did anybody fit into our midfield last season? it was fairly shambolic (going forward, anyway). "give me the ball and make runs that pull defenders away" is how he'd've worked with our midfield ... y'know, like our other good player.
I think my favorite thing about that video is when he loses the video game as Arse 15-0 and the screen shows the goalscorers. Most of them are Sczcesny.
