that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. Building MLS is the main thing that matters for US soccer. Everything else is basically a side-show. ps-getting Dempsey at the top of his game is a huge catch, MUCH bigger than an elderly Drogba or Raul. Leave that for the chinese league.
but "we" are in the basement on a computer logged onto Bigsoccer.com. HE is a professional athlete with a family and he actually has a pretty good sense of what is best for his game and his life.
Demps is getting a lot of retroactive respect on Spurs boards. Mark my words, Spurs will come to regret this transaction.
And in turn, Brendan Rogers has linked Suarez's asking price to Bale's. A sum which we know Arsenal won't pay. What a victory.
I think getting Dempsey at 30 is bigger for MLS than getting Drogba or Raul. In terms of signing NT players, MLS doesn't owe US Soccer anything - they can and should sign whoever they want.
A lot of it is "he actually wasn't that bad but his fans were annoying, therefore turning us off." Then they talk bad about him and American fans get offended. The vicious cycle of fanboyism.
Oh God. Probably the same people who are now tearing their hair out because he's moved to a "lesser" league.
I hope Tottenham stinks it up after losing their first and third best goal scorers from last year. AvB may yet regret running Dempsey off.
To Sam, almost anyone is a genius, as it seems the bar is set exceptionally low... a club with 70 million pounds to spend (their words) that constantly underbids for players for months and hasn't bought a single player of note up until August 4th is just running a long con on all the other clubs in the world. Brilliant.
Well I reckon now when we shout COYS it will be SOUNDERS and not SPURS. Who knew? Dempsey could have won the UEFA golden boot and not gotten the kind of love from Spurs that he got when he was unveiled a Sounders duece last night.
I don't follow MLS game by game ratings closely. Have any of the big signing: Becks, Henry, Keane etc. shown any lasting rise in ratings?
MLS TV ratings are steadily, albeit slowly, growing. However, now you can watch a game with Donovan, Keane, Gonzalez, and one of the two best young talents in the league (Villareal) playing against Dempsey, EJ, Rosales, Martins, and the other one of the two best young talents in the league (Yedlin) Yes, it's not Chelsea vs. Man U, but quality players all over the pitch.
A credit to his country and the beautiful game. He could win games on his own and is a truly world class centre forward. He will be missed in the Epl. It's not my favourite league to watch, but is growing all the time. Credit to Seattle as they have a terrific fan base. Good luck Clint. Thank you for being the player you were, whilst at Spurs and all the best in the US - Rob Mo , West Sussex, United Kingdom, 04/8/2013 16:27 Click to rate Rating 31Report abuse In my opinion this is a big mistake, He is a quality player and was quite useful in England playing at the highest level of the game. Now he is going to play in a league that is not even close to the talent of even League 1 in England. he obviously wants to be a "big fish" in a small pond. i think you just took a step backwards in your career. - Steve , Somewhere, United States, 04/8/2013 16:17 Some views from Dailymail users on this move.
If Dempsey moved to China or UAE on the same deal, everyone would have gone insane. If he had moved to Denmark for a CL spot, everyone would have gone insane. It's the point that he dropped from arguably the best league in the world when he's still able to start, that confuses many. Would have preferred to wait after the WC. But if this move aids his WC performance, than SHAZAAM.
I can't believe we will be going from years of watching Clint go against some of the world's best, to wondering when Brek Shea will be getting his ass of the bench! Thanks for the memories, Clint, when is the loan....?
Hmmm how many victories and CL appearances for spuds vs arsenal? Heck I don't even like either of them but respect to arsene.
My, hard to sign off this one, but I have to now. So long Clint- I'll stay up late to watch MLS with you in it. In fact, I just discovered the Seattle Sounders channel on Roku. This could be interesting.
Thanks for the memories Deuce. 6 years of watching a Yank compete in the best league in the world. Lots of highlights. Que le vaya bien.
