I was aware of that lol I had to look it up to make sure but that's what I meant; he is Fulham's all-time leading goal scorer in the Premier League.
Aren't it's market values basically sourced like Wikipedia, contributors offer assessments and an editor makes judgement calls? http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/d...ham-hotspur/topic/ansicht_357_369_seite1.html http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/landon-donovan/mwverlaufgraph/spieler_68.html
This move doesn't hurt Dempsey or the national team at all. He was going to be in a tough spot considering what Tottenham valued him at and his age, wages, etc. It was possible that he may have ended up getting maybe a dozen games this year for Spurs. He will be playing for Sigi which is surely one of the reasons he accepted Seattles offer. Also, if you haven't noticed, Seattle has put together a pretty damn good team. He will fit in perfectly there. Also, at his age, it will be huge to only have a month of play on his legs when the WC starts. I am shocked by the move, but I think it is great.
About 30 years ago, seriously, Bob Costas was just starting out, and he was doing the PBP on an NFL game and Bob Trumpy was the analyst. One of the quarterbacks had a habit of pumping the ball from his throwing hand to the other hand, which is bad mechanics. So Bob'n'Bob started talking about it. Trumpy threw in that it was "tragic." And Costas wryly said, "I don't know if it's tragic." And I knew then that Costas had a great future in broadcasting, because he's smart. Tragic? Seriously? I wonder what kind of adjectives you pull out when a child gets cancer, or a newlywed couple dies in a car accident.
If Donovan was spotted in Munich or London the day before a Galaxy match, I'm sure there would be a lot of Twitter activity too. No offense to Dempsey, but casual sports fans in the USA probably don't even know what Fulham is. A lot of them probably still don't even know what Manchester United is. We forget that because we're not the average USA sports fan. We're posting on a soccer website. Donovan has been the face of the game in this country for a decade. He's been on FIFA covers. He has scored more important international goals. Go up to a random American in the street and ask them to name one current male American soccer player, and Donovan will be the most common name IMO.
Well, Clint have two options: The bench at Tottenham or take the deal from Seattle Sounders before the MLS windows transfer closes on August 8.
As much as im not in favor of Clint leaving the opportunity of playing in the worlds best league i can at least now (after letting my emotions cool) agree that it will be pretty awesome having him play in the US. It'll be great for the league. For his career....Time will tell.
I for one like the idea of the MLS attracting world class strikers like Clint. If he's here it's because he wants to be here and he sees the MLS is quickly becoming a top league in the world.
To me nothing will ever top when Tim McCarver said that Jeter's spit could cure cancer, all hyperbole comments ever made we're embarrassed.
Well, yes. The only difference from last year to this year is that Tottenham becomes more desperate for the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League berth. Since the management (led by chairman Mr. Daniel Levy) and coaching staff had seen his "last year" performance, they acquired new footballers in the summer transfer window. It signals to Clint Dempsey that he'll get fewer minutes of playing time for upcoming 2013-14 EPL season.
Reminds me of the Simpsons episode "camp krusty" where Krusty the clown apologizes to the children and says, "They drove a dump truck full of money up to my house! I'm not made of stone!" sorry I couldn't find a video of it
They don't own their own stadium. I recall hearing the MLS teams that didn't make money were the ones that didn't have their own stadium. Though Seattle gets a lot of fans and that may be different but I'm sure renting Quest cuts out a lot of those profits.
Well, Paul Allen does have an ownership stake in the Sounders and one would have to assume there is a possible discount in rent because of that. But who knows!
I absolutely laughed off every single rumor floating around yesterday and for the better part of today regarding Dempsey. I will gladly wear the egg on my face. The numbers being reported are staggering but honestly it needed to be to entice him to come home. I have zero problem if Clint's grabbing a huge last payday. He has young family; he's 30 and he's setting them up for life. He could have done that in England but why not raise his kids here and have the same cash flow. A win-win. I also see him becoming the first marketable face of MLS since Beckham. The potential fan fare and attention he could get from being the USMNT captain playing in MLS, while leading the team to Brzail, shouldn't be ignored. I could easily see him hitting the media circuit in the US after the draw in December. It would be harder to do that from abroad. I would have prefered Clint to stay in Europe as I know he'd be a great addition to a club. However, I can never fault a man for wanting to come home. We don't know all the ins and outs to go into making that decision. But whatever the case I support it. I welcome him with open arms to MLS and I'm excited to watch him.
They don't pay rent, and Paul Allen gets to keep 80% of the revenue the stadium generates, the other 20% going to an education fund. The hawks pay the yearly Lease.
That makes him the 2nd highest paid employee in Century Link Stadium, behind Percy Harvin. That's Stupid Money - and he's not worth that. Idiocy if that's what they're going to pay for him.
Semi-related. You'd have to think with Donovan's contract up at the first of the year that he will ask the Galaxy to match Dempsey's salary or leave.
