Jesus guy be more f****n negative about the club you claim to support. You know how many deals in sports try to get done on a yearly basis and fail because of red tape political BS? I bet you were unhappy about us finally getting a point Seattle too.
This doesn't sound like the usual old thing unless you actually think the sources of the Commodore's info and Bianchi's tweet are actually lying, since they are saying something is happening. He's not here yet--as we saw with Rivero and Eloundou, until the guy is on site, visa and ITC done, it's never over. But the part about the Rapids committing to bring Torres in (e.g., signing a contract) are likely true, and that's a bold step for this team. And maybe the DP part isn't true and he'll come in under, but it's still a bold step to go out and get a young-ish (24 going on 25) scorer of apparently decent quality. That's what we've been saying the team needs and they're trying to address it. The Venezuelan league might not be the strongest but his record is worlds apart from Rivero's and Harbotle's. (His club, Zamora, finished last in its group in the 2012 Copa but was also in a group with a Brazilian club and two Argentine clubs.)
Maybe for you and your pouty profile pic negativity is the way to go but some people enjoy this game and this club and the only thing you seem to do is drag it down. I suggest putting away your D&D game, turn off fox soccer news, and get out of your parents basement and go enjoy the day. Cheers P.S. Before you try and think up some silly reply please do us all a favor and turn on your spell check.
Can you hobos calm down for a second? I have a monopoly on the inflammatory posting here, and I won't stand for some upstarts trying to muscle in on my shit.
To be honest, how much do you actually know about certain regions of Mexico ? See below .... I'm from and grew up 2hrs-3hrs from the border here in TX ... I know quite well, the history of many of the areas in Mexico that are quite bluntly, not worth the extra 400K to live in due to crime/murder/extortion/etc etc .... that the money would actually paint a target on you. Hell, just this past season in CCL play gunshots were heard right outside the stadium during a Santos Laguna match. BUUUUUUUUUTT it's all moot anyway because 40K ? pssshhhhttt who gives a shit ?
With you on all these points. Just wondering if any concessions might have tipped the Rapids' decision to go after a DP at this time. Rapids: Hey single entity, when are you going to push FIFA for an Eloundou decision so we can actually get something for our lottery award?MLS: Is that extra allocation $$$ under your pitch?Rapids: Who's Eloundou?
Except your original argument still sucks because all things have to be equal if you're trying to make a comparison. You can't just change one single variable have it still be an apples to apples comparison. Thats a logical fallacy. It's like asking if Pepsi or Coke tastes better...under the following conditions: The Pepsi comes ice cold out of a cooler. Ten feral cats take a shit in the Coke, and it then sits out in the sun for five hours. Which on tastes better? Somalia is the most dangerous county in the world. Period. Mexico, while it does have some very dangerous places, would not even crack the top 10. The fact that Mexico has a big tourism industry is proof that a person can spend a lot of time down there and never have any problems. When was the last time you saw a travel brochure from the Somali tourism board? Christ, the US doesn't even have an embassy there. Again, I don't even disagree that quality of life in the US compared to Mexico may have been a serious factor in his decision, but that comparison is absolutely ludicrous. Yes, it's moot.
Is this your first rodeo? It's not like this board has seen these things fall apart before. And I would also like to add that each and every time there's always some insider on this board telling us that it all done all we got to do is dot the lower case j's.
I would like to add, your contributions are valued CommodoreSlacksburn, but you really shouldn't try the high horse stuff so much...you're not good at it. Just let the unfolding events speak for themselves. Of course you're welcome to be a subversive prick like me...but I've honed my skills and anger channeling from Tibetan monks in their internet cafes high in the Himalayas. I like playing rough, but I'm prepared to take it as much as I dish it.
This is funny to me because of all the people to paint with the D&D nerd persona, I'm pretty sure dismemberment is the last person on this board that I would ever see playing D&D. I also don't see him as all that negative when it comes to Rapids. He thinks Atiba Harris can be the best player on the team! Commodore, might i suggest chilling out just a slight bit. Just because others aren't seeing this as sunshine and rainbows doesn't mean they aren't excited. They are just bringing up valid questions based on prior expriences. You in turn using that to characterize everyone here as negative and as D&D playing basement dwellers just makes you come off as an elitist a-hole. Maybe you are fine with that (you won't be alone here if you are), but if not chill out a bit and present valid discussion rather than childish name calling. Oh and if you think dismemberment's spelling is bad now, you should have seen him a year ago. (Props to you dismemberment, you still have crazy ideas and things aren't perfect but i at least can understand what you are saying these days.) Oh yeah this thread is about a new signing. I'm excited for him to come into the team. I hope he has a knock on effect of pushing Buddle to actually put out some effort and be the quality striker he can be. A top three of Torres, a committed Buddle, and Brown, would be pretty fearsome. Heck even let Harris start the games (his defensive effort is pretty crucial at times) and let Brown come in for him and burn past tired legs.
1st off no this is not my my first rodeo here. I also enjoy giving each other a good ribbing. High horse? That's rich. Just because I happen to get all this info before any of you do doesn't make me special either. There's several things I choose to share on here with you. That's great that you were doing whatever in the Himalayan Internet cafe's but while you were doing that I was doing tours in Iraq and Afghanistan so forgive me if I come off as a prick or as you put it on a high horse. I think I earned that. I never said it was a done deal. Any issue that MLS drags up to screw this deal up is out of the RFO's hands and should go through by next week. (I know you're monk statement was humorous) Cheers
I think he's a big boy and can stick up for himself. He said himself it's all about the negativity here lol. Most of his posts are negative and he's also been kind enough to toss in some gay slurs recently! It seems like your more personally upset by the D&D reference so get it straight... It's a joke. He seems to dish it out pretty good and if he can't take it then oh well. I am a prick like Quinn has pointed out. I embrace it.
On the surface it seems like a pretty good signing. His club just won their one and only championship, so he's coming from a winning squad. He's got 5 goals in the Gold Cup placing him among the top goal scorers. He's young and ought to be around awhile. We need goal scorers. What's not to like? Maybe old Jorge did us the favor of mentioning that his stay in Colorado was alright? Some pointers on how to phone home could be useful. I'm afraid that we won't see him until the season's kinda gone (hoping otherwise), but it's a good pickup for next year. Better getting players now than during the preseason. If it's a DP signing what does it mean for Rivero's future? If we're moving on then I give the FO credit for not getting bogged down again even if the future looked hopeful.
Is this the role that he plays? I watched the Mexico/Panama game last night and didn't really notice him and didn't hear this news until this morning, so I have nothing to really base anything off of. I was hoping he was a striker, maybe not a big bruiser, but something like Wondo and would be able to take over for Buddle.
Torres would appear to be more of a scorer. But I think the reason why it threatens Rivero's position on the team is Torres is supposed to be coming on as a DP. Meanwhile, the purchase option for Rivero is also supposed to push him into DP territory, and it's hard to see the Rapids having 2 DP's.
Not half as ridiculous as throwing your military background into the mix as if it has absolutely anything to do with soccer, let alone what this message board is about. Well... Welcome to the rodeo! If you want to play, you have to remember that banter is a two-way street, don't dish it if you can't take it.
I fully appreciate the insider info on this and I am excited by the potential that this pick-up represents. Our first DP! The word "historic" has been watered down but I'd say that this acquisition certainly qualifies. However... I can understand some of the "I'll believe it when I see it" sentiment on here. The ineptitude of the RFO is seemingly boundless and the diehards who post on here have become fairly inured to assurances that "the check is in the mail". I'll keep my fingers crossed though. PS: The past two pages of this thread have been the most absurdly (and likely unintentionally) hilarious posts I've ever seen on this site. Regardless of the intent, it brightened my day and made me laugh; so thanks.
