Well, technically 13 - 18 million so he could be right on or could be a fan boy vastly overrating a US player... props nonetheless!
To put it another way Gareth Bale and Altidore are the same age, and even Gareth Bale only scored 3 goals in 1,500 minutes in 2009-10, and he certainly had better service than Altidore. (No. I'm not comparing Altidore to Bale. Bale is on another galaxy from Altidore, but 19 year olds on good teams have trouble succeeding, 19 year olds on terrible teams almost universally don't score a lot), Altidore had 1 goal, 3 assists and 3 drawn penalties (from reports I've found) in 2009-10, not the worst season by a player his age
According to this site it was 1 goal and 7 assists, where assists include penalties drawn: http://www.myfootballfacts.com/PremierLeagueCombinedGoalsAssists2009-10.html We beat this topic to death at the time so I hate to rehash it, but: Hull in Jozy's starts: 16 games, 17 points, 1.06 PPG Hull when Jozy didn't start: 22 games, 13 points, 0.59 PPG Hull's offense when Jozy was on the pitch: 1460 minutes, 18 goals, 1.11 goals/90 minutes Hull's offense when Jozy wasn't on the pitch: 1960 minutes, 16 goals, 0.73 goals/90 minutes. He scored or set up 8 of those 18 goals; it's a fairly select group of players who score or set up 44% of the goals that their team scores when they're on the pitch. IIRC he also drew the most fouls per minute in the premiership, FWIW.
From those stats, he wasn't so bad. Contributing to 8 goals on a sinking ship is worthy of some notice. I don't think those assists are ever mentioned when discussing his time at Hull.
Guess when his first goal for Sunderland will be? how many goals might he score this season? 2nd match of the season away to Southampton. I'm marking him for 12 league goals.
Sunderland playing a local italian squad. 7-0 at half. sessengon has 5. this match doesnt meany much but its giving new players build chemistry with old. TODAY- sunderland sign France under-20 international midfielder El Hadji Ba. Also a gino Peruzzi deal is to be struck within next few days.
Form those stats( if its accurate) they are not close to be bad at all for a players first season in EPL top flight football considering he just played 7 times at Villarreal. I also thought to myself several times that if he was that bad, why did the manager keep using him, i can easily see why now, he was just better than the rest.
Jozy comming on at half: Track game via Sunderlands twitter page Looks like a number of changes at the break - Wes Brown, David Vaughan, Danny Graham all getting ready. They'll be joined by a couple of new boys - El-Hadji Ba and Jozy Altidore!
Jozy comes on at the half, and the offense has far less success than in the first half. Should we be concerned that he his manager doesn't rate him anymore?
his not the only striker playing. Danny graham too, he just sucks. and Jozy IMO isnt fully fit he arrived at Italy just yesterday
I really didn't think I had to include a smiley there. I reallly didn't think anyone would think I was being serious there.
