First off, love that new Away jersey. Clean. Simple. Werder.

    About the Caldirola signing:

I think we can all agree that this is the type of signing Werder should have been making in recent years. It's nice to see some great investment in the backline, as well as from a player that has the potential to make it big and perhaps bring about a big transfer fee in the future.

Now lets hope for a Barrios deal, and we're on our way to being a credible threat for European places.

I totally agree it seems that Eichin and Dutt are being a lot more prudent and discerning with their personal. We also have some much potential in the younger players that want to go out and prove themselves that this going to be a very interesting off season. Eichin just said in the Weser paper that they are picking up a few stop gap pieces, and then they are evaluating all the players before moving on.

Interest quote from Eichin. I agree that that it is prudent from both a sporting and financial standpoint to fully evaluate the talent on hand before investing senselessly in the squad.

Makiadi definitely seemed like a stop-gap type player to give our midfield a little strength (and and ideal choice given his relationship with Dutt)

It makes you wonder how long they will give themselves to evaluate the talent - its rare to see too much investment during the Winter transfer period, so I wonder if Eichin and Dutt are willing to go the whole season with our crop of young talent.

The summer transfer period ends on August, 31st. Up to that date ~5 players will leave the team - on loan or sold.

Bundesliga Spotlight is reporting that Werder has reached terms for Timm Klose.

That would be very suprising, German sources report Klose moves to Wolfsburg (e.g.: nordbayern.de). Probably the club names got confounded. Skysports article mentions in the content a Wolfsburg newspaper and replacement Pogatetz is not a Werder, but a Wolfsburg player.

But this weird news has a nice side effect. I joined twitter. :)

Yea, I thought the same thing when it said Pogatetz, so my bad, but I really mean theirs for confusing Werder and Wolfsburg.

Don't worry, when I reported of Werders interest in Caldirola I did not rate our chances in signing him well and now he is signed.

Such rumors, hoaxes, translation mistakes and all that stuff help us to survive the summer break and having something to talk about. ;) :)

According to the local press Werder and Finnbogason agreed on contract term. But the problem is the negotiations with Heerenveen, who refused Werders first big. So the transfer poker is open.

No new rumors about him and Werder.

A new rumor is us beeing interested in signing Romanian striker Bogdan Stancu (25) from Turkish side Orduspor. He played well at Steaua Bucuresti, moved to Galatasaray, then tried his luck at Orduspor, who got relegated from 1st Turkish league this summer. So he propably won't be expensive, but it is hard to judge how good he is.

Marko Arnautovic changed his player manager. It is speculated that this can be seen as a sign that he 'll leave Werder already during this season before his contract ends next summer.

Edit: Missed Footy Magoos post about Stancu totally. So see my previous post as additional content. ;)

Exactly I think they are biding their time with the strikers on the roster now, and letting the summer play out.

You are right;). Werder Bremen boss, Klaus Filbry, said: "Werder Bremen have to young team in this season. The club does not need new signings" (http://www.goal.com/de/news/827/bun...filbry-über-weitere-transfers-wir?ICID=CP_147)
A few days ago Robin Dutt said: "Even after the departure of Kevin De Bruyne the team is complete".
Forward young talents:thumbsup: and win a place in Bundesliga for Europe this season:).

We signed the most important positions, not exciting, but talent needs to be assessed and then the club will choose which direction to go. I hope this Luca Brasi is the real deal and not Sokratis' poopschissel! Still hoping for Elia/ Eksfaktor exit and a more reliable playmaker in the midfield.

Both Kreiszeitung and Weser Kurier are reporting that either Trybull or Kroos, maybe both, are likely to be loaned for a year to get them expierence, since SVW is so deep at DMF.

What! So soon? I though with Schmitz out that Iggy would be on fullback duty and then Fredi out too would leave Makiadi and Fritz (who are quite frankly senior citizens of the game) and then what? Well at least they aren't sitting them on the bench till the last 3 games of the season...its sad I thought there might be a real battle here and Fredi the vanquished.

If they go at least its a show of respect they didn't get for two seasons now and I do hope they are ready next season when I could see Fritz retiring.

edit* Luki Luke can play DM? I recall he has on occasion early last year.

Yea, I kind of wondered about the rational behind loaning both of them out with their potential and the only true Sixes old and as many injuries that Werder had last year. Maybe, it is just a ploy to prod them to go out and prove they belong there.

Also ready for Marko to ride off into the sunset, get the money and build a cohesive team.
