The pitch looks pretty torn up, players having a hard time getting their footing and connecting passes.
We've had the wettest month on record this June here (and more coming today, possibly before the game ends).
Bruin with an awful touch. I said when the roster came out that I thought he shouldn't have been included and I stand by that. He's way out of form.
Generally only when they're part of a doubleheader with the final. The 1999 WWC 3rd/Final at the Rose Bowl comes to mind.
Complaint about the MLS "game log" feature on each player's bio page. It does not differentiate between "unused sub" and not in the 18, which ought to be an additional category. I am trying to determine when/if Kevin Hartman has even appeared on the NYRB bench, which ought to be something one could determine from the game log, but alas . . .
Nah its both, but he can do much better than he showed there and better than he's shown in general. This simply isn't the time to call him in though.
Ashe has had some good early passes. Nicely weighted chips and 1-2s, good to see with GC coming up. edit: not that one though.
Speaking of touch, that was the difference in the KC/CLB game. Kei Kamara's first touch is world class. If he put more than 5% of his shots on frame, he would be unstoppable. So many years of watching the dodgy first touch of USMNT forwards, it's always interesting to see a player who routinely settles or redirects the ball to where they need it to be for their second touch.
I deal with a lot of crappy stuff on the Internet, but it's been a long time since I've encountered something as crappy from an Official Big-Time Content Provider as the "WatchESPN" service. Christ.
That's certainly what stood out about his first goal - he took a tough ball and set himself up perfectly on the first touch. The second was different, as it was his calm, patient approach to a ball many MLSers would have blasted first time over the bar, which he instead controlled to open a better angle vis-a-vis the goalkeeper. Both were impressive for very different reasons.
Nice movement from the underrated R Clark. Not enough to seriously test a quick Gk like Robles, though.
This game lacking some of the gusto of yesterday, as expected honestly. Its almost like we enjoy taking the life out of games when we can.
