Can La Real afford him?..I'd rather see him there than in Valencia. He'd add much needed depth to that squad, he'd be playing CL, and he'd play with Vela lol. Hopefully la real can buy him with that CL money.

a season long achievement is not a quick flash. That's the beauty of a real point-based championship. In order to make it to the top, you have to be consistent.

What has doomed previous mid-table clubs that reach the champions league is the debt. They get tons of debt to make it to the 4th place, and then they can't pay it back. Real Sociedad doesn't have that problem, most of their players are from the cantera. Two of them were among Spain's best in the last european u-21 championship, and Griezman who is one of France's top prospects.

I think they'll be consistent in European tournaments, uefa league or champions league, for the years to come... as long as they can produce new talent by the time they get raided by bigger clubs.

If it happens, it will likely be the only big name signing. Judging by their administration history, they'll make next season's budget thinking on the uefa league, and hoping for the champions.

They were only REALLY good in the second season though.....thats what my biggest concern is.

Looking back at Mallorca....remember that great year they had too, and now look at them. After that it was head first to segunda.

I have a feeling they won't be willing to reinvest a lot of that Champions League money. Why else would Montanier leave?

    I hope it happens though.

true, but consistent nonetheless.:D ... at least more than the teams below them. It's not like in the mx league where the 8th team in the tournament becomes champion in a 3 game lucky streak.

And Mallorca is one of those clubs who mortgage their future to get there, and are now suffering the consequences. Real Sociedad is one of the best managed clubs in la liga.

Lure xabi back, wait for ruben pardo to start beastin <_<

Didn't that club montanier leave too just get a big budget and offer him a long term contract?

I think he inevitably left because of how when things weren't so great the club wasn't backing him like he wanted. There was tons of people asking for his head.

I think he means quick flash in the way that this CL run could only be a two game playoff. 4th in Spain doesn't qualify directly to the group phase iirc. Either way, i think Gio would be a better fit in la real than in valencia.

I thought it was because he wanted to coach his hometown club. La Real does have some talent coming through the cantera. They will need to bring them up sooner than later because they will inevitably be raided.

    That aside.

I wonder where they would want to play him. I honestly wouldn't want him competing with either Vela or Griezmann just because thats messed up.

xabi prieto is 29 though....maybe they wanna phase him out? Fans love that guy though.

Montanier left because, iirc, he was promised a (relatively) big budget, his home country, and probably most important of all, a long term contract.

I think La Real only offered him a year contract, and he wanted more than that.

Anyway, either Valencia or RS would get great. I think RS will sell at least 1 player for big money this year, probably Inigo Martinez to Barca. Either way they are a really well run club it seems, so i believe they would be able to afford Gio either way.

Bruh, Gio was Vela's first love. Griezmann is cool and all, but he will take a backseat to rekindled flames. :p

But yeah unless they move Griezmann to the middle, theres gonna be a ton of competition on for RS.

I would think Vela would move to Imanol's position and Vela would take his.

Imanol Agirretxe doesn't seem to generate game on his own. I think his goals were mostly lucky ones... and he is not very highly regarded among the fans.

He was on fire the second half of the season though. Idk. Vela offers more moving around the wings than a sole striker. But it depends on the lineup.

I don't give a shit if he takes Griezmann's spot. As long as GDS starts and doesn't take Vela's spot then I'm all for him joining La Real.

Thats what I was thinkin. If Gio can bench Greizmann, Aguirrexte, or Xabi Prieto and La Real can keep playing well, who gives a shit.

I think Gio would benefit more from La Reals style of play than Valencias 'feed soldado' style.

RS just have to hang on to Illaramendi and i think they will be alright. Although losing Inigo could be really bad for them.

Gio wouldn't bench Xabi Prieto he is their contención and the captain of the team. Most likely it would be Griezmann, who may be sold anyway. Aguirrexte is a solid 9, and from what I've read the fans like him, so a front line with Gio replacing Griezmann would be the ideal for RS.

Valencia or RS either would be great, wherever he would get the most playing time. I think we can agree he's better than Griezmann though and going from a relegation team to CL football would be very nice indeed.

"Así lo ha reconocido el propio Lorenzo Serra Ferrer en una entrevista concedida al diarioAS: "Por Giovani se han interesado 6 ó 7 equipos, sin exagerar. Algunos han puesto una cifra pero no le han interesado al jugador. Hay otros equipos que han puesto otra con jugadores a cambio. Nosotros escuchamos y valoraremos.Los Ángeles Galaxy, Rubin Kazán, CSKA Moscú, y de España, como Valencia, Atlético de Madrid o Betisestán interesados en él"."

I must confess I was skeptical of the Atletico rumor... but now...
