Have any of you heard about a new club forming in Northern, IL called "Peak"? Any information would be helpful.

This is the same person that failed in Rockford, then went to Barrington and failed, and now trying to come back to Rockford.

Well more has come out since I asked. And I have to disagree with the above post - one of the coaches that has been announced has years of coaching experiencing in Northern IL - JP who is a class act (however I have now devulged my age) It is nice to have alternatives up here - really haven't had a whole lot of options for the past few years (unless you can make the drive into the 'burbs), Options are always a good thing

Where exactly is Nothern IL? Are you referring to the Rockford area?

Raptors are not necessarily a bad club. Rock Run tried to make a run at it by stealing a few of their (Raptors) squads but went no where. Dactyls are gone and United FC is languishing - at the end of it's life - holding onto what ever money it can make out of the Watermelon tourney which has gone down as fast as BOM did.

Eno O has got some club out there doing well in league games on both the girls side - Shadow FC.

I know it has nothing to do with the soccer but what the hell kind of name is that for a club - and the logo??? Are opponents supposed to be scared by that? Reminds me of the secret clubs we used to create when we were 6 years old.

Sounds like coaches blowing smoke up parents back end. Do they have any idea what it takes to compete regionally or nationally? You can't just start an ECNL team for example.

Raptors need to get their crap together - just become Magic - NorthWest, hire a good staff and pull in the players already...

Must be a husband wife spat or something because I would have figured this would have happened by now - especially after Magic North was bounced.

    BTW - Hi Marbelle!

I think it's time you guys just moved. I put my youngest in Schaumburg/Palatine and I could not be more happier! It's an hour drive there and an hour back for practices and games but it's money well spent!

She's having a blast - learning the right skills and I am loving every moment I can watch her play and have fun.

Yes, I am referring to the Rockford area. My kids have played up here for the past 16 years (my oldest was one of the first raptors). Rock Run did not "steal' the Raptors girls teams - people left because of the mess on the girls side. Eno is a great soccer guy and has Shadow but he has had a tough time growing the program. We thought the Raptors would become magic North and were excited about the prospect - but that is not going to happen - follow the money The Peak thing popped up about a week ago - there has been talk for sometime about a new club in the area and I was just searching out info (seeing that we are at the try out/commit time of year) and the info coming out for Peak has been slow. Again, just looking for options and if that whole working thing didn't get in the way - I would have just bit the bullet years ago and drove the kid in. You would have thought that maybe, just maybe people would have gotten together, pooled their talents, pooled great coaches and built a fantastic program up here - but again, don't know if that will happen. JP was announced as a coach yesterday and again, I have nothing but respect for the man.

LOL - I agree - its that whole workin thing that keeps interferring with my life. Do you think the state of IL will allow a 13 year old to drive?

JP is a great man. He is one of the very few honest docs out there.

So it looks like Tokoto sold his club to the Magic and is now hooked into this new club.

The only guy to name the club after himself, at least from what I've seen around here over the past 15 years. :)

Okay then - that's who I thought it was. Man he's smooth. I must have had 20 disucssions with him this spring out at Olympic - just about Sockers, Magic, Fire grabbing Legends and so on and he never said a word.

He's a great coach - maybe he can pull it off. The area does need some settling for sure but what will he do if Magic start building Raptors up?

Well my understanding (and please remember I am trying to get info) is that he is not the DOC - he is listed as a coach (but man what a great coach) And as far as "but what will he do if Magic start building Raptors up? " - don't you think that would have HAPPENED by now? the Raptors have actually LOST teams. My two oldest played under him YEARS ago in this area - class act! But who know - only time will tell

again, I have no clue how any of this came to be - I am just looking for info - however you are assuming that Magic let him go - not that he left the Magic. - but really - its not important.
Everyone had different opinions regarding coaches - my past experience was nothing but great - mind you this was YEARS ago - and I think he is a stand up guy. Just excited about options - its nice to have options!

He left the Magic, Magic let him go - same difference. But yes, it is nice to have options.

So are there any updates about this club? We just got an invitation to tryouts for this year. I saw that their girls team went undefeated last year. That sounds pretty good to me, but i don't know.

yes, we received the same email - they are in the Rockford area - headed up by Pete Galon who started the Sirens, which merged with the Dactyls/Raptors, which he left and started the "academy" (in the northwest 'burbs) which then because "Peak" confused? welcome to soccer in Northern IL

Okay. I saw something on their website about Soccer Sisters. I think the clubs are just partners, kind of like Campton/Dactyls did a long time ago. I know Pete is pretty good at getting girls college scholarships. My Friend's daughter played for him and he got every girl a place that wanted one. I guess going to tryouts wouldn't hurt. Frankly, everything else seems so disorganized so why not give this a shot? ha ha. Rockford soccer needs help!

according to the website they have 3 teams - and Pete does know a lot of college coaches but the same can be said about coaches at other clubs. Ultimately YOU need to take controll of that whole process - I would suggest getting a book written by a ex-college player named Avi Stopper - he runs Captain U - but he has a book titled "Make the Team" that is a great guideline And your right - Soccer in Rockford is off the charts glad I am down to my last kid playing

Rockford Soccer is a mess, I'm really hoping that this club will be the one to change that and bring the structure and experiences kids are looking for.

I was thinking that Raptors would become PSG Magic West by now.

But it hasn't...I'm excited to see a club that gets the kids involved off the field too. It looks like doing community service is part of their mission which is nice. Also, this looks like a good bet that doesn't involve a long drive. And I looked into the Acadmy SC more (their sister club), and they have been extremely successful. If they can put a team together and beat the ECNL teams and be undefeated in the National League, why can't Peak do the same?

I guess at u14 its more acceptable to "put together a team". But over all that ideology is one of the biggest problems in youth soccer. So if that is all the club is on about then I would not necessarily be expecting much.
