I don't know if it reflects worse on you or me that we know that 50 Shades has a heavy Portland thing going on. I've got a trip to the Heathman Hotel (where they offer a 50 Shades package, *shudder*,) as my excuse, I don't know yours. Regardless, brilliance in the title...again.

    Love the thread title.

Well, last week I was totally wrong on projected lineup changes. This week, I'm about 65% sure there will be a change in midfield. Castillo or Watson would seem to be the logical choices, but is that really even a choice?

While I would pick Castillo I believe Watson would be decent at outside mid where giveaways aren't punished as hard. He does have some skill but just seems an ill fit in the middle. Hopefully the team is bring in a linking or defensive mid so Watson can be moved outside.

I feel as though the results over the weekend were very favorable towards Dallas' supporters shield hunt, so I hope that they can win and make their way even further in the standings. A loss and Montreal could pass us while multiple other teams can even the point total. I haven't been able to see the Timbers play this year, but I've heard good things about them. I think with Portland's attacking focus, as I've heard, the Dallas defense will need to be at their absolute best.

It didn't even dawn on me that it takes place in the Pacific Northwest. My ex was reading it when it got big last year and told me that there was an MLS reference in the book. I thought they were in Seattle but what the f uck do I know? Never read a page. I swear.

I don't think it hurts that Portland lost a centerback for the season....

I know silvestre is out, but is that Kah guy they just signed eligible for this match? He's got a pretty good track record.

    Nope-
With Mikael Silvestre out for the season after undergoing knee surgery, the Timbers newly signed Pa-Madou Kah might see the field sooner than the club had originally expected. However, Kah will not be featured in Wednesday’s match.
The Norwegian International is yet to receive his International Transfer Certificate and hasn’t practiced with the club. If he receives his ITC before the weekend, he could be in the 18 for Portland’s Mother’s Day match with Chivas USA.

so will George John play tonight? They show him as questionable with a knee strain. He's a fantasy mainstay

Didn't you hear? He was suspended three games for what he said to the bottle-throwing guy.

I hope MLS is making extra coin off of HSG limiting television coverage in their own market. Go hoops!

    Just in:
John and Jacobson are out of the starting XI tonight. London Woodberry and Je-Vaughn Watson will be taking their places, respectively.

Good luck to them both. Especially for Woodberry, considering this would be his first MLS start. (I think...)

On a random note did anyone else notice pretty much every MLS official who wasn't doing a game sitting in section 103?

I recognized Jair Maruffo and Michael Kennedy for sure.. most have been some sort of meeting or convention or something.

Not jazzed about the two dropped points at home, but Portland is much improved over previous seasons and looks to be a playoff team for sure. Plus, we were a bit shorthanded tonight.

End to end game, very entertaining. We were short handed and Portland look good but we'll be disappointed to drop 2 pts after going perfect at home before today. Oh well, let's hope we can break our foot off in DC's ass on Saturday.

I thought that this one easily could've ended up 5-5. Both team missed some incredible sitters, and Ricketts and Fernandez pulled some rabbits out of the hat tonight. Castillo was so dangerous on everything tonight, except for the final ball. We really did a nice hustling defensive job of pressuring them whenever they tried to build. Pickoffs almost resulted in a couple of goals were it not for the poor finishing. Woodberry seemed a pretty decent back up tonight. But, we were disbalanced on the back post off of a cross that went over Hedges' head. Had Portland been able to swing the ball around quicker, we might have had more problem
It seemed that as soon as Ferrera's hammy went, we went a bit more route 1. Once we subbed Michel off for Warshaw, their was no doubt. We are looking for the 2nd ball off of the target. Blas was fantastic tonight at all of the subtle stuff. He laid off enough balls for at least 3 assists. Getting tugged to the ground for a pk validated the changes in the last part of the game. KC's hustle was rewarded. But was most interesting to me was watching how we can suit up two extremely contrasting styles of play in the same game. I don't think it is a secret that we are a very thin squad when it comes to quality depth. Given the injuries, the opponent, and the short turn around until we play again.... I think you just look at the standings and nod your head approvingly albeit with a grimace on your face.

I'd like to compliment Kenny on a well taken PK. None of this stutter stepping fake-out shit... just stepped up and whacked it in the side netting. Do that every time, please.

    Yes. This.

When I saw KCJ taking the penalty, I groaned. But he took it exactly like everybody should take it.

I was curious. If you look at the notification from ESPN below you will see that there is apparently a new name for FC Dallas Stadium. Anyone know anything about this name?

I liked the stretch of play when DF went out and the 3 forwards had figured out how to work off one another. I think you could make a case that having Hassili as the target man ahead of Perez and Cooper, creating a triangle point of attack would be really tough for any back line to handle. That's a ton of size and movement, and 3 solid finishers. Now the only way we would ever see that is if DF is out for an extended period of, and even then I doubt we will see it for more than final 20 mins or so of games.
I thought Watson was serviceable finally, but pulling Michel for Warshaw was a terrible idea. I think it's time to move Warshaw along, he really just isn't MLS level. The frustrating thing last night was not having any offensive players to sub in once Hassili came on. Sure would be nice to still have a kid like Leyva around, anyone know where he ended up?

Well "Stade Louis-Dugauguez" is a catchy name that will roll trippingly off local tongues. How cool of Sedan to let us use it.
Great googly moogly that was some bad finishing last night. Ferreira's blast in the first half particulary stood out for me. Except for the one minute of madness that led to the Twigs' goal, the makeshift lineup didn't look too bad. The more I see Fernandez play, the more I'm convinced he is something special. This game seemed winnable. Disappointed to tie.
Late in the game when the strategy was to send long balls forward to a knock down guy, why did the recipient of the knock down almost always try to pass it right back to him? SHOOT THE #$%^ BALL!
Geez I hope we can score a few of the boatload of chances we'll get against DC on Saturday. DC is a team in really bad shape that is ripe for a pounding on the road.
