Henry and Sheva were more of the same type as FW and Striker.
Batistuta was a typical center forward or main striker.

So if you have good playmaker, AM,then Batistuta was a good choice.
But if you played with 2 DM and attack on the wings, then Henry or Sheva would be better choice since they can link up betetr with midfield and create chances.

    Overall career:
    Henry > Batistuta = Sheva

Andry Shevchenko is one my favourites players by maybe Henry is superior than him. They were similar like moviments and sense of the goal. Batistuta was a wery strong center forward but he wasn't in level with the others.

    What level is that?
Henry was successful with a greatest Arsenal team ever, along with the greatest France era ever.
Sheva was with a strongest Milan team since late 80's (of Basten Gullit)
Batistuta with lowly Fiorentina and his late years at Romar (he won Topscorer and SerieA there)

For NT, Batistuta was even better than Henry (well Sheva was with a weaker NT).

Imagine if Batistuta was playing for Milan, ManU , or Real ... in his best???

Batistuta is my choice. He was a warhorses. He was the most dynamic and more powerful than the 2.

As an out and out striker, I reckon bioth Batistuta and Schevchenko were probably better than henry, so were klinsman and vialli and fowler jean pierre papin.

however, Henry was more than that, wasn't he. he was moving at speeds that the others never reached, for starters, and doing it like a gazelle. To execute the kind of domination of his own game at such power and speed and to be a brilliant marksman to boot, gives Henry the final edge for me.....

I prefered Batistuta and Sheva but would have to say Henry at his best would be the pick of the three. There was a time that I thought Ronaldinho and Henry were clearly the best players in the world by a distance but I would not have said that at any time about the other two, although Shevchenko I feel deserbed jis Ballon d'or in 2004 (3rd in FIFA award).

For an FYI here are there Ballon d'or and FIFA PoY positions during their best years:

    Henry B'dor FIFA
    2000 4 7
    2001 9 11
    2002 6 9

    2005 4 4

Henry > Batistuta > Shevhecnko. Andriy maube best goleador, but had pretty bored style.

What Batistuta did for the national team is nothing short of admirable. His club career was not as great because he played for a rather underwhelming Fiorentina side, compared to those incredible Milan and Arsenal sides of the early to mid-2000's

Henry obviously achieved more at an international level than Sheva did, but that was because France were a much stronger side than Ukraine. I felt that Sheva was a tad better overall, although I'm a bit biased (as you can tell by my username).

There is a difference between not winning much or club level to saying you do not have a great club career. Personally I would say Batistuta's club career on a personal level was definitely on par with his international career despite the lack of team trophies.

Only from a general point of view because I agree that Henry and Shevchenko come from a different mold of striker (FW) to Batistuta (CF). Depends on the team where they must fit.

    Sheva
    Henry
    Bati...who?

I loved Shevchenko as a player (one of the best non-glamourous strikers in the entire history of football), and since the 2000s AC Milan was my favorite football club of all time, well... guess who I'd pick :)

As for Henry, good striker, he might have been better than Sheva, I don't know, but since I have an affinity for Shevchenko and AC Milan...

Batistuta... did that guy ever make any top?? Decent striker and that's about it. I don't think it's fair to the real strikers (Inzaghi, Ronaldo the brasilian, Raul, Del Piero, etc.) to leave them aside for... Batistuta lol

agreed 100% with your statement, and I can not fathom how people pick bati..something over Shevchenko and Henry. I... I... just don't get it. I think they're rating the players in the FIFA video game. not the real players LOL

Agreed that Sheva had a strong team, but not since the late 80s (he came to Milan in 2000 I think). But even with a strong team behind you still can't win Ballon D'or if you lack quality, and Sheva didn't :) ... Incredible ball controlling skills, incredible positioning on the pitch, incredible shot precision, was bifooted, was constant, was reliable, was... he was out of this world, really. How can you even compare him to the no-name batisomething is beyond me. And no way that Milan would have transferred batisomething. I would have stopped watching football right there and right then :)

oh please! How can you guys continue putting batiwhatever on a list with Sheva and Henry. A little respect for the real strikers please!

Also, you are an AC Milan fan???? LOL, fake one. Real AC Milan fans will never EVER put no-names in front of Sheva.

@monere @giaggia90 buddies come on if you're going to come hard at Batistuta like that at least bring some arguments which are viable.

CLEARLY you don't like him, but you're still looking at the top goalscorer of the Argentinean national team, who will be passed by Messi... only because Messi has already played 27 more games than Batistuta (yet still behind him).

Also... Bastistuta in his club career did nothing but score for his team and was BETTER than schevchenko in Italy... To me the real conversation should be Henry vs Batistuta, because those two are at a different level.

    you're right, I don't like him

    I don't care

    I don't care

No, he wasn't. If I say he wasn't then he wasn't and that's that!

    To you only

Yes, at a different level.... below Shevchenko. Also, when those 2 will ever win a Balon D'or we will have another conversation about who was better than who. Until then.... buzz off!
