^ So what's the problem? If she caused the accident, he's supposed to just let her off because he happens to be rich and she's not? That's why people buy auto insurance.
From Carlo's twitter: @Capitancarloc: Just to clarify,I'm not asking a cent from the driver. She is not financially liable. Her name had to appear in the legal proceedings being the driver who caused the accident and therefore had to be notified. The case is being dealt by the insurance companies ONLY.Think before you write nonsense. #greatjournalism
That's the American spirit! Sue sue sue! (Honestly I know nothing about the case, so I'm not making a judgement here, just making light.)
That makes sense. Don't make the mistake of assuming that a UK tabloid has a handle on (or for that matter any interest in) the truth.
Frankly, she's talking about greed yet is almost certainly getting a nice slice of cash from the paper, even though the insurance company will be the ones paying out. Also, having seen him in his prime, he was an excellent keeper - I think his claims have some merit, if indeed she was at fault. After all, this is a key factor in him barely playing in the last two years.
That's what insurance is for! He's not going after her, he's going after the multibillion dollar insurance company. They're just trying to put her, as a single mother, as the face of the opposition.
It's all spin anyway. The Daily Mail would probably have gone with "Unwed Mother Living Off State Brands Keeper She Nearly Killed 'Greedy' For Making Insurance Claim".
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/mar/29/robbie-rogers-coming-out-gay Robbie Rogers talks about coming out and also says that he might ask Bruce to train with our Galaxy. I wonder what the rules would be around signing him since he retired. I would LOVE to have him on our squad, we need exactly his type of player. I would like to think most of our guys are open enough to accepting him as a gay footballer too but I guess you would really never know without knowing them each individually intimately.
No way Bruce would tolerate anyone giving him a hard time, regardless of personal views. I have no question he'd be a good fit here. My concern is his focus on football, given his apparent desire to have his own clothing line (paging Kelly Gray). I'd also be concerned about his level of play after having been in footballing limbo for a while and then simply not playing at all. By all means, let him train with us and see if we can reignite a passion for football (make Landon guru him or something) and see if he's still got what it takes on the field. I just don't want him on the team if his heart's not in it. Plus, I would imagine we'd have to give something to Columbus to get his rights.
I like Rogers as a player, what I don't want to do is trade any of our starters for him, which is something that was proposed in our preseason threads. Unless you count Clark as a starter, in which case, go ahead. We are not warming up to Clark yet, are we?
Nope, we are not. Problem is with Clarke, from what I've seen, is that he thinks too slowly. Right now our midfield is about as close to a tika-taka style as you can have in MLS with the cap, meaning lots of quick passing, lots of off-the-ball movement to create both outlets and passing lanes, and to me, Clark just isn't keeping up. It's happening to fast for him and he slows the ball up. Part of that may just be because he's the newcomer to the system, but I'm not totally convinced he can keep up, even when he's played more minutes. He just seems like there's an extra second of processing time he needs that throws off the system.
rogers retired from football. i doubt it, but i was asking if perhaps him retiring released his rights from any team
Probably not, because then anyone with a rights issue would just "retire" then un-retire to allow them to pick their team.
Would love Robbie on our team, first because he directly addresses perhaps our biggest need and secondly because LA is a city and the Galaxy is a club that could really welcome an openly gay player and give him a good home... Maybe we can trick Chicago into taking Jimenez, Walker and some left-over Beckham jerseys for Robbie's rights...
I think this would work against him wanting to come back to soccer in LA. Pretty evident in both interviews that the last thing he wants is to be the Great Gay Hero. That said, anywhere he landed in MLS, he'd pretty much get that same treatment. We're good people, by and large, us soccer fans.
