There are all levels at American Universities, it depends on what level you're at. Good schools, like Akron or Maryland are comparable to fourth division in the UK, IMHO. Many schools have teams that are comparable to what you'd get out of a local bar. If you've played and are fit most coaches will give you a look.

Do some research into the schools at different levels and see if any fit your level of play. Even if you don't play for the schools team the all have intermural teams, so you can play pretty much no matter what.

Exactly MLS teams are prolly looking at players from other leagues in maybe the 2nd or 3rd division... So if your not already playing in league in any division over there your not going to just "walk on" onto any MLS team... They take players from lower divisions from europe or south america.

    Hi guys,
    I’m a professionnal indoor player, I'm 21, I live in Belgium and I'm Italian.

Let me explain my situation: 2 years ago, I played during two seasons in the italian's futsal first division (serie A). The club’s name was Rieti calico a 5. There were a lot of Brazilians in the team (older and most experienced than me) and so, it was difficult to play regularly with the first team. So I decided to come back to Belgium at the end of my contract and to play there in first division.
Next year, my contract will end with the Belgian team and before signing again here, I would like to settle in the USA to play indoor soccer there. Why in the USA? The simple reason is that because I love this country and I’m fascinated by the American soccer. I saw on Internet that many MISL/PASL teams organized open tryouts.

But before starting a new experience, I’ve several questions:
    1) What’s the main difference between MISL and PASL?
    2) How long is the season?
    3) What’s the average salary for a MISL or PASL player?
    4) Do the teams provide housing for the foreigner players? In Italy I earned approximately 1600-1800$ per month and the team also provides me a house and a little car.

    I hope to receive answers,
    Thanks in advance.

PS: Forgive me if my english is bad :p

I know the Dallas Sidekicks are past their third round of tryouts: http://www.dallassidekicks.net/index.php/team

...but I imagine if they had an experienced player fall in their lap they'd take them.

No clue about the salary but I doubt they house foreign players. They might try to help you in finding an apartment though. You might want to post in the indoor league forum to find out more info.

I'd say just contact as many clubs as possible, show them your resume, then go from there.

    That's pretty good English btw!

    Thanks for answering :)
Actually, there are some differences between indoor soccer in Europe and in the USA.
I'll do a trial next summer.

On MISL vs. PASL-Pro: both leagues pay players, but MISL probably pays better and has a higher level of play. At the very least, MISL crowds are much bigger: last year MISL attendance averaged around 4,000 while PASL-Pro average attendance was around 650.

Might want to try emailing them and asking them a lot of questions to see how thorough they are.

When need a sticky strictly addressing this question.

I'd say go down the pyramid and find teams that are close by, contact them all and ask about tryouts. Keep going all the way to the lowest tier if you want to play. Don't forget indoor soccer too.

Hey guys! I'm riding a rich vein of form in my co-ed over-30 rec league right now, and had a career day last Saturday -- a hat trick and two assists. I was on fire. Does anyone know how I can get a tryout with an MLS club? ;)

dude worst video ever. I stopped watching 2 min into it. Annoying music too much slow motion dribbling. I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish by making this video but here's some tips.
    1) Keep the video short 8 min of you dribbling in slow motion to crap music was extremely annoying and boring. No manager is going to sit through that whole vid.
    2) Get rid of slow motion. No one wants to see you slow motion dribbling by yourself. Get some game footage of you actually juking kids out and beating double teams.
    3. Get a goalie in the net. Nothing was impressive about this vid. Your shooting at an empty net with no goalie or defenders dribbling by yourself. This doesn't scream "next mls star"
    Basically get some game footage

I love all these posters thinking they can just walk on to an MLS team. Did you play division 1 college soccer? Are you currently playing professionally in another country? No? Your just sitting at home playing xbox? and you think you have what it takes to play with Donovan? T. Henry? etc... cmon guys the MLS may not be the premier league but they sure aint picking up scrubs off the streets..

Not to mention the fact that every high school varsity player at a decent sized high school could do everything in that video in their sleep...

I find this thread kind of funny, as my son is a US citizen looking to play overseas, even 3rd or 4th division. College soccer except for maybe 10 teams is a joke, and even the top teams (Akron, Maryland, etc.) have taken in players on the cusp of pro play and destroyed them.

I think only if you are from overseas and truly want to live in the US, should you try. There is absolutely no soccer reason to go to the US over most European or South American countries. Good luck to those trying, but do it for the right reasons.

If you are over 25, good luck with it, you are probably too old to get paid anything unless you have a pro career (not just academy) in your resume.

Instead, get in with a training company and coach - you will make more money and less travel, and you can still play at a decent level if you are near major soccer areas like LA or NYC.

This is whole conversation is a joke. Look if you were any good the MLS would find YOU. If your pro in another country your agents would have put you in contact with a team. This is isn't walk on tryouts. Teams get their players from the top Colleges, their youth academies, and mostly overseas in latin america. If your looking for a team chances are you ain't good enough because someone would have already discovered you by now.
