Unquestionably. With Villar gone, we desperately need somebody like a healthy Nunez to round out the roster.

Kenny Cooper will be fine. And with Perez out for quite a number of games (Gold Cup, World Cup Qualifiers, suspension)..............Cooper better be good for us. A bigger question for me is who's going to get him the ball. It has to be Ferreira, but he's aging and injury prone.

If Ferreira returns to 2010 form, this team has the makings of being really good. I love the defense, frankly. We're hugely deep there. And if Woodberry can hold down the backup role to Loyd, then I'm even happier. We're not going to concede many goals..............

Ferreira looked great yesterday... best form I've seen since his injury. based on how Cooper played with Henry last year, I think Ferreira and Cooper will be a good match this year. The concern I would have is if anyone else can provide service... shut down Ferreira and what else is there?

On a side note, there is a rumor on the SJE board that Cooper is on the block to be traded due to cap space... seems odd to me.

    Doesn't make sense.

Grant Wahl was talking about Kenny Cooper and salary cap issues on FSC this morning.

But it was on in the background, and by the time I perked up.....................it was too late.

I could understand why long-term Cooper could be a salary cap concern, but not now. Not right after we traded for him. And it sure didn't seem like we acquired Cooper in order to make him a piece in a further deal.

The only way we'd need to deal him now is a colossal salary-cap miscalculation from our front-office. Surely they're not that incompetent.

    I saw that thread.

It sounds like somebody was in line at Togo's behind this guy whose daughter used to babysit this guy whose cousin used to cut the lawn of this guy who went to SMU who was behind this woman who saw a moving van somewhere in north Dallas that was being driven by a guy who totally looks like Frankenstein, so it must mean that Kenny Cooper's on the trading block.

I'll believe that he's on the trading block when Buzz or Daniel say he is.

I watched the grant wahl interview this morning. The story was about Red Bull being forced to sell him because of lack of cap space, and how red bull home office is still learning how do deal with this "strange league".

I agree that the headlines made it look like cooper was up for sale again, but the actual story was about New York.

Well, that would seem to clear that up.

I must say, and I am not one of his many Honduran fanboys, Ramon Nunez seems to have gotten unlucky with injuries at Leeds. Started off quite well.

He started off really well.. I think if he hadn't got injured, he would still be at Leeds.

    Yup. So Ramon officially signs.

The more interesting signing today was Jesse Gonzalez from our academy.

What in the world do we need a 5th goalkeeper for? Remember we also have the Conference USA Player of the Year in our GK stable in SMU's Jaime Ibarra.

I have a feeling there's going to be movement in the coming days at our keeper position.

Seitz to Colorado or another MLS team? Sanchez to a Euro/Mexico team?

Once Sanchez shows off at the U20 World Cup this summer, he's gone. Money for us!

    Big D Soccer article says......

Gonzalez another Mexican youth team keeper, currently with the U-18 squad. From everything I've heard, been told and read, this kid is every bit as good as Richard Sanchez. Hence the reason why the club pulled the trigger on this deal and signed him.

I'd fully expect him to be loaned out at some point this season though. Five keepers on one team makes for a very crowded situation. If you are wondering why the club signed him, it is simple and very much in the same line as them signing Sanchez. If they didn't do it now, they stood the chance of losing out on him to a Mexican team.

When you say "we also have", does that mean the player is currently in college but has come up through FCD's acadamy system, and FCD would have first rights on him?

    And also, he's good? huh?

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who works at the Dallas County courthouse heard that Jaime Ibarra just filed paperwork to legally change his name to Jaime Zbarra. I think he's pretty serious.
