I don't know why you keep saying this. It happened to my team in the Concacaf Cup 6 or 7 years back, against a Mexican team. Our goalkeeper was sent off with a 2nd yellow, for supposedly time wasting in the 30 something minute. It happens. Stop whining about it. And yes, the Tijuana player was offside. The video doesn't lie. Again, it happens. The Tigres player has noone to blame but himself. The first yellow card he got for time wasting WAS his warning. For him to do it again just minutes later is simply asinine.
I dont think Tigres deserved to go down to 10 men either way of course him kicking the ball deserved a yellow but to go down a man was just not fair to the team who was doing well up untill that double yellow
No the ref was bogus I know it and you know it, stop trying to minimize the fact that the ref was a bogus ref by giving me examples, Tigres in this situation was dominating while up a goal till the ref sent off the Tigres player then Seattle benefited from favoritism by the ref, I am assuming you didnt watch the game, and no the Tijuana player was not off you should look at the replay again and see that the opposing player was keeping him onside by sicking out his foot
Calls go for you, calls go against you. Fussing and moaning about refs day in and day out is just inane. The result is the result, so give it a rest.
Nah. It wasn't bogus. It's just that football's a funny 'ol game. It all gets evened up at some point.
I said in the BSMX subforum but well, I'll say it here too... While many people blame the red card as the game changer, I would argue that what had more impact in the Tigres gameplan was the injury of Rivas, who was the real leader and the most experienced guy in the line-up, then you add the red... Obviously this could have avoided with a full strenght squad, or at least some quality subs... but well...
Tigres? Even if the rest team were beatified by the church, Viniegra still deserved the second yellow. There was nothing scandalous about the reffing. Just typical junk. Viniegra should have played it cool once he got the first yellow. It's his fault and only his fault.
no thats the thing he didnt maybe for him kicking the ball but other then that no he didnt deserve to go off, and off course its horrible reffing if two yellows were given in the first half, the ref knew it was going to be a competitive game and should of know that coming into it being that it was a knockout quarter final match
If he committed two infractions that deserved yellow cards then he deserved a red, which means he should go off. The bottom line is that the dude, with a yellow card already in the books, did something INCREDIBLY STUPID and got sent off. You don't go kicking a ball to waste time when you've already got a yellow, regardless of the circumstance of the first yellow. If it were my player I'd be talking about how stupid he was for kicking the ball instead of lamenting the fact that the ref did what is in the laws of the game.
In my opinion he didnt deserved to be sent off with two yellows the ref should of known that the game was going to be competitive being that it was a knockout stage and should of let the game run but not get out of hand in which it didnt, it was a calm game in my opinion and Tigres were dominating comfortably but for some reason the ref didnt let the game run its course which was suspect
Then it is great you aren't a ref because however bad CONCACAF ref's are your standards for what warrants a card are even worse and far more arbitrary then even the worse CONCACAF refs. The fact that it is a CCL quarterfinal doesn't mean a ref should be more lenient the game should be called consistently whether it is a group game, friendly or final shouldn't change the way the game is called doing so makes the ref bad. There is no rule that says the importance of a game should be taken into account when handing out cards the reason for that is fairly obvious however given how many posts you have made saying the same thing I doubt you will ever see it. There are refs that take the importance of the game into account and those refs are generally the refs you don't want calling important games because you are pretty much guaranteed to have your team get a bad non call against them in a very important game The thing you fail to realize is that the first yellow a player receives is a warning meaning that player should avoid doing something stupid that could get him sent off every professional player knows that even if you don't
The ref was just being a ref. The only one who did something stupid was Viniegra. Quit hating on the wrong dude.
I dont know about you guys but in my opinion the ref was bad but your guys opinion is different which I think is wrong but it was a bad day for the ref and thats understandable not all refs are going to be good
He had a horrible game should of never called that game but thats what you get when you play a game in concacrap
I'm not sure what's bugging you quite so much. So it was a fluky game? The underdog won, even though maybe they shouldn't have. Reffing aside, physics should not have allowed several of those goals to go in. Don't worry, unless we see some crazy meltdown, Seattle will not be able to touch Santos Laguna. Houston is a stronger team than Seattle, and they've already fallen. So what if you don't agree with the reffing in the CCL? It is what it is, and in the end, the results are all that we are left with.
When it comes to discussing what ifs in sports there are two kinds of people. Those who can ponder and discuss for the fun of it and understand that talking about what could have happen doesn’t change what did. Then there are the misguided ones who honestly believe that by saying like this team would have won if this player wasn’t hurt, if the game was home instead of away, or if they did this substitution instead of that one changes things because they want more than anything to ignore what really happened. Talking with the first type can be a fun and thought provoking excise in critical analysis. Talking with the second is generally annoying since they think their thoughts are accomplishing something they are stubborn, incredibly bias, and sometimes even afraid to listen to others’ points. This board seems to have too many of the second type.
