4-1 to Internazionale. Cassano who has been the best player on the pitch crosses an inch perfect cross for Alvarez to head home!! Come on Inter!
Great job showing up and making it such a nail biter, we had a chance to take it but so did spurs and in the end they itched through, good luck to them
Internazionale 4-1 Tottenham FT. Really got to feel for Internazionale. A fantastic game and did not deserve to go out following the effort and desire shown tonight. Really great advert for the Europa League to be honest for all the haters. I have to give Internazionale their props here because it would have been easy to play a weakened team after the first leg considering their League form but they did not and they took the game all out. Just looking back and all the chances created the one that sticks out in my mind was the Cambiasso chance right at the end of normal play. If only that had gone in...still Internazionale should be proud of that performance and help spur them on in the League. Hopefully qualify for Europe next season instead of some of the others that did not give a damn.
discussion in the Rivalry Thread (wow a discussion lol), basically that they should abolish the away goal rule if it goes to extra time, I'm in agreement but I wanted to see what you guys thought?
no its not an excuse just an idea going forward doesn't change what happened today, I think it puts the home team at a disadvantage who already turn the tie enough to get the game to extra time, gives away team an extra 30 minutes to get an away goal.
well it does make it really difficult for the home team to score two in 30 mins, the only other alternative I see is straight to PK's, we might have had an edge there since everyone started to believe we can go through
Cassano is a GOD A GOD ! and Stram is a better coach then people think he is ! Mazzarri couldnt even get us to score one dam goal !!!
The home team is already playing at home. That is an advantadge already. Playing at home on European nights is a big advantadge because the other team has travelled to the ground and playing in a unfamiliar ground. LOL. Steaua Bucherest has an away goal!
Still despite this, its a completely different game in extra time and takes whats left in the tank to push through, but we'll agree to disagree Chelski sure are missing Di Matteo right about now lol
I do not think Tottenham have any tactics because they let him free reign throughout the entire match and never marked him even though that is the first thing that would happen for Internazionale in Serie A. Was eleven Mazzarri's playing for Napoli?! Don't blame Mazzarri for everything. Your players were 90% at fault.
The only other option and I agree with Samora is to scrap the extra time and go straight to penalty kicks. The players are already to tired in extra time and have cramp.
Napoli didn't really have much tactics in those 2 legs and the players came out half-assed, Mazzarri blamed a demon or something for why Napoli lost. Players are to blame too, but Plzen clearly studied Napoli, because all the things they took advantage of, everybody at the boards were noticing would be Napoli's downfall with the tactics Mazzarri employs and I guess Viktoria Plzen's coach has a BigSoccer account because Plzen did em all lol.
I agree on spurs not having much in tactics, defending wise they were worse tonight than us which is a rarity to see
Cassano never gets that time and space in Serie A. Spurs thought they could just defend no fuss like they had done at what White Hart Lane but even in that match Inter were dangerous at times. Napoli fans always blame Mazzari first and foremost for their teams failures. He's made poor decisions and doesn't have any tactical abilities but most of the players came up small in the EL except for Cavani.
They were extremely naive. I remember their fullbacks in the first half overtaking their midfielders leaving the defence very exposed. Tottenham's attitude was very poor as well. They are lucky they went through.
Only a dumb manager criticizes his players in public. I hope Mazzarri really laid into them in the locker room. There is no way you are convincing me that Plzen are better then Napoli. Mazzarri did not play a weakened team and still they lost 3-0 at home. Pathetic. Tactics only go so far. There is no way that Napoli losing 5-0 on aggregate is down to tactics or Mazzarri doing something. The players are 90% at fault. They have to take responsibilty. Then again, Napoli limped out of the group and got beat by PSV Eindhoven twice which means Napoli contributed half of the entire Dutch teams total wins in Europe.
Should see the stuff he says about Lorenzo Insigne weekly Probably only the players under the age of 27 The team was not a team he'd ever field in Serie A, he played Marco Donadel for christs sake. Look the players have to take a lot of responsibility for it, but this happens everytime Napoli go down a goal, they panic and go full throttle attack, they did the same to Lazio(referring to that game and Mazzarri puts out every single attacking player on the bench, and hopes for a goal. You saw what happened at the end of that match after the Campagnaro wonder strike, you guys nearly scored like... 3 goals after that. the Plzen manager had to notice this, every single time Napoli goes down a goal Mazzarri panics and goes full out attack and Plzen just kept hitting the counter attack, players should take responsibility but the burdens lie on the coach as well. His tactics have been "Put as many defensive players out on the field at once and hope Cavani or Hamsik can snag a goal for me" so when a team scores, hes lost and panicked because its not the kind of situation you want to put yourself in when you're down. a very attacking team (they had a +50 goal differential last i checked in Eresdivise) that Mazzarri thought he could play ultra defensive against. Got laughed at twice.
More then respectable. Internazionale embaressed Tottenham. No one really gave Internazionale a chance before hand and Internazionale proved them all wrong. I thought it was a fantastic game and herculean effort from Internazionale.
