I'll get that ever elusive Hispanic market. All you'll do is get more Jewish readers, and we all know they try to freeload copies off of neighbors cause they're *Big Soccer Moderators do not agree with any of the hate speech of our posters.* stingy.
Isn't he your buddy? Can't you just bribe him to cover the Dynamo more with a cheap Jorge Campos knockoff jersey from a flea market?
George Best" Pele? Maradona? How about Barry Barto as a starting point?!? I played on club teams in Philadelphia, and watched Soccer Made in Germany on TV but the clincher for me was Barry Barto of the Philadelphia Atoms. He came to my high school for a clinic/chat with our school team. We pretty much sucked because it was a small school and maybe a third of the team never played before high school. But we played so it was all good. One of my teammates asked Barto if he could do a bicycle kick. I was a winger and a couple of us crossed balls for him. He did a bicycle kick from one of my crosses and that was that. Lifelong soccer fan.
I'll see your Barto and raise you a Sir Stanley - I had a pair of his boots (well they weren't actually his, but I thought they were)
Damn, I thought I was old, but you make me look like a puppy. Were those boots made of dinosaur skins or what?
http://blog.chron.com/soccer/2013/03/usmnt-forward-herculez-gomez-was-right-about-santos/ Something about the headline that just rubs me the wrong way on this one. Like it was just meant to be offensive. I know he's a team Mexico fan boy and all and I have tried to avoid giving him the time of day but something about this one just irked me reading it.
It's probably a good thing that the Chronicle didn't highlight the game too much beforehand. It was a sound beating that didn't need to be shared with everyone.
its not offensive if its the truth. Herculez has great insight as he's part of both systems. let's not be overly-sensitive like other MLS fans and instead realize that there's still a lot of work to do.
Yeah, Ortiz just tweeted that readers care more about Mexico and Europe than MLS so he will give the readers what they want. So expect more Astros knob-schlobbing so he is in their good graces and continual shots at Dynamo management and worship of all things El Tri. It is what it is and is not changing. For real Dynamo coverage (not opinion or position pieces written because he likes a certain Dynamo player and wants to help his cause) you'll have to look to Lovell or dare I say it - the newish Dynamo Theory guy.
Nope the headline didn't bother me. The fact it was written from the Astros' spring training camp in Florida did.
There's the truth and then there's being a prick about it. Noone is arguing the caliber team Santos was but to write it out like we had no business on the field with them or any Mexican team, like we're a high school team is being a prick. Like I mentioned before, I just prefer to not give the guy the time of day anymore but this was just blatant. Jerome Solomon blatant. I know Dom doesn't really care too much about tournaments, but as a fan I would like to see us at least win this one once in a while. The international exposure if we were to advance and win it could only do us some good when the transfer windows open up.
But you are a racist! Give me equal barbs at whites/republicans and I'll reconsider the above statement.
It's not racist if its true, right? It's all in the perspective, for lack of better words. I will say that poking at one spot too many times makes it sore...and that is what you have with some folks in here. Right or Left Nutty butty...it doesn't matter to me. I try my best to stick to the soccer.... ...oh and not having much to say of significance due to rather short soccer fandom.
You're not racist. Most of these peeps don't understand your humor. Some of us know you are a comedic genius. #TeamWestie
People from Houston value Houston teams the most. While at the same time us soccer junkies in town as well enjoy football from all over the planet. Ortiz you just solidified yourself as a beautiful soccer virgin that has a lot to learn yet is to scared to do the manual labor to do. Get over yourself partner.
Now hes just trolling the Dynamo fan base. No one should click on his posts or stories - someone should just post the relevant excerpts here and that way page views will decrease
I can't tell you how overjoyed I was to see that the Chronicle paid a stringer for the Sunday Edition pre game story on the Dynamo! Wasn't half bad either - certainly much better than Ortiz. Thanks Chron! Hopefully this trend continues...
Hate to say this, but I was glad to see an AP story from the wire than an obfuscated, biased blather from Jesus De Ortiz. Unfortunately a story pulled from the wire has no real detail or depth. Let's hope teh Chron is working on getting a better writer similar to Dart's article on Sunday. BTW - http://www.guardian.co.uk/profile/tom-dart
I was disappointed in the AP article - I was hoping to see Ortiz blast the Dallas FO for not selling out and his suggestions on how to boost Panamanian attendance due to Blas Perez.
