I understand Scott, but do you have the ABILITY to get TWC if you were crazy enough to do so? Ok, it sounds like this whole "if you can't get TWC, you can still watch on Direct Kick" line was BS but let me ask you just to be sure. I know you have FIOS but could you get TWC if you wanted to? Sorry for the beating of the (almost) dead horse, but I just want to make damn sure.
I am trying to watch the game on MLS Live and it is blacked out and I live in Plano. WTF... Anyone else experiencing this issue?
From the FC Dallas FB page: "The MLS Live feed is blacked out due to the game being on national television.UniMás is the recently rebranded Telefutura (Spanish)." Such monumental asshats that negotiated Telefutura deal to include blackouts. Jumping jeebus on a pogo stick I'm pissed.
There was no English feed to get of the match. If you are in Plano, the broadcast was available via KSTR-HD over the air and on TWC and FIOS. Why were you trying to watch on-line? (if you were away from a television, I understand).
for the benefit of peter who needs his consensus-reality expectations confirmed, and for those who missed today's meltdown in front of 900 chivas fans, here's some classic vidstemtainment from the 20th century. first, the original Speed Racer intro: next, Mr. Peabody dials up the wayback machine to take us all the way back back back to the year 1947, where in the month of july less than a week after the Roswell Incident two brothers from Georgia went in to the studio to record the original old-timey gospel ditty "You got to pray to the Lord when you see those Flying Saucers": i fought the battle of mls broadcast access in '98 and '99 the first 2 years digital ppv was available. have fun storming the castle!
I got ya now. I really have no idea if TWC is available to me in SW Arlington. I haven't checked. I watched on UniMas on DirecTV today But I didn't require English translation to understand that FCD sucked a blue whale in the last 22 minutes of the game.
There WAS the FCD feed (which turned out to be available via the Arabian Peninsula and First Row,) and that was what I had hoped would be on MLS Live, in addition to the SPA feed. I watch almost all of the away matches via MLS Live and an AppleTV. I haven't had cable in almost two years and in the past that was part of the expectations, but I had wrongfully hoped the "There will be no blackouts," messaging from the FO applied to the spanish broadcasts as well. Live and learn. For those trying this plan at home, the only other blackout will be Sept 22nd according to the FO facebook commentary.
I was away from a TV and my only option was MLS Live. I even tried on my phone and was unsuccessful due to the blackout...
If the rest of this season's games are going to be as craptacular as the Chivas game, I appreciate the FO's efforts to prevent me from watching them.
So as was mentioned before, the MLS Live blackout was due to the game to the game being on UniMas. What I've been noticing this year is that games that are blacked out on MLS Live (ESPN, NBCSN, UniMas, etc.) are showing up for archive viewing within a few hours after the game is over. Long time MLS Live users will remember that in years past this has been more like 48 hours. This is a big deal for those of us who are cable cutters. For me personally, it's not a huge deal if I don't get the see the games "live". A few hours delay is not a problem for me. In any case, just wanted to let anybody out there know who is considering MLS Live that this is how it appears to be working this year.
Can we talk about how stupid of a league move it is to black out ENGLISH broadcasts of a SPANISH national broadcast? If there is SAP option where it's in English, ok...but to tell me I have to watch my team play in Spanish is very 1996.
I agree that English should be available BUT if that English is coming out of Dunseth's mouth then give me Spanish!
Just FYI, in defense of the front office here - it is a LEAGUE rule to BO from MLSLive matches that are shown nationally.. and yes, that means english and spanish national broadcasts. FCD asked and got permission to have BO's lifted from matches that were only on TWC because they knew that less than 30% of the market is offered TWC and that means about 21% actually have it. But if the match is on UniMas, it will be BO'd from MLSLive.
I was able to watch the game on MLS Live on my Roku at about 8pm Sunday night. I'm in Austin, though. That must be the difference. I should have mentioned that in my original post. My bad. It does remind me of another point about MLS Live: Games do sometimes come and go from the archive for reasons unknown. For example this past weekend I was poking around the matches from opening weekend and they were ALL gone completely. They later reappeared. MLS Live is can be a cruel mistress. I feel for all you folks who are struggling with this TWC thing.
Does anyone have info on Azteca America's rebroadcast of games? That's over the air in DFW on 55.1, yeah? Do they show every game? Do they happen to be in HD if you pull it off the air? What time do they show the games on "Sunday morning?"
9:30 am. See schedule in link below. I doubt it's in HD. Better than nothing. http://www.fcdallas.com/news/2013/0...kazd-tv-55-renew-local-spanish-broadcast-deal
