We really ought to have a sticky thread for the C38 stuff.

Can the mods help a brotha out?

An argument against a single sticky thread for things C38 related. It is going to get off track probably often and for someone new or not a regular it will take forever to sift through all of that to get the pertinent info. I'm fine with separate threads for different events.

C38 stuff should be in the Supporters Forum.

The supporters forum should go the way to the dodo, because nobody ever reads it. Plus we don't really use it as a communication channel between our members. It would get much better exposure to non-members on the regular board.

I agree with this, the people that don't want it there sound like the reverse of Yogi's "Nobody goes there its too crowded" or what people might have said about computers before we figured out things to do with them. If supporters stuff actually goes in that area it will get active and be used more for what it is supposed to be for. When the main forum gets to about 4 or 5 (or more) stickies every reload is a pain because it generally starts with scrolling.

Again, we're not really posting stuff here for our members. They already get emails, and we also update our Facebook and Twitter accounts constantly.

This is here for your benefit. Its to get non-members informed on all the stuff we have going on. It gives people a chance to be more connected and active with other fans. Who knows, they might even become members at some point.

A lot of that is lost in the "supporters clubs" boards. There is no point in burring it in a place that nobody goes to or posts in. Plus, theres only one group now anyway, and the most active threads on that board tended to be Pid Army vs BSG slapfests.

Honestly, if you think scrolling past three threads is a chore, I assume you must have a 700 pixel monitor, no click-wheel, and possibly dial-up.

I like the threads here. I am not a SG member, never went to the other forum. It's good to get the news occasionally and having the threads here makes far more likely that I'll see it.

I still say, no need to create a sticky, just create a new thread for each new event. Although most posts I would think will just be a "go check out the website for more info" type of thing anyway, so maybe a sticky would be fine. Depends on the amount of discussion that happens within the threads.

I've been registered on BigSoccer since 2004, and lurked it for a good 3-4 years prior to that. That said, I think C38 should build a forum on their web site.

A Facebook group would also be a good way to reach out to people, share events, and communicate between members or those interested.

There's a C38 FB page. I'm not a C38 member but it came up as a suggested page on my FB (kudos to whoever made that happen). Good info and pictures of the meet and greet for the new jersies.

I like having the C38 stuff being mixed in with the regular forum. Like Quinn stated, we get plenty of info and inside discussions. I like this for the sole purpose of hearing what people outside of the supporter's groups are thinking about the supporter's activities.

Even if half the time it resembles this:

I just wanted to note we are up to 4 stickies now (and btw I said when we got to 4 or 5 -- not 3 -- the scrolling is excessive) maybe when we get to 5 or 6 the already played matches can go in the supporters area (that will keep them at the top) because it is very clear that most here believe they are too set in their ways (apparently) to put the supporter's stuff in the supporters area and go there to read and post.
Seriously though it would take less than a week for the regulars here to figure that out and start using that area for what it was meant for but I already know I am in a minority of 1 (or maybe 2) people that feel that way -- it doesn't mean my position is wrong -- just unpopular. ;>)
I fully support what C-38 is doing and I understand from other affiliations that unity is a scarce and precious 'resource' in volunteer aggregates of people. To be clear that I'm not picking on them I also don't really see why (if this board is for the first team -- which I believe it is) we have a sticky for youth stuff. I recognize the importance of what is going on with them but they could be in a regular thread (that would stay 'up' if it is active) or really the U-20 stuff could be going in the N.R.R. one we already seem to keep pretty well up the list.

(donning nomex kit -- flame away)

Regulars never went to the supporters boards before. I don't understand why anyone thinks this time would be magically different. Lurkers and non-regulars would never go there, even if it contained free beer and porn. Its a total waste to write something that nobody looks at. If people have to be "trained" to go there, you've already lost the battle. And another thing, it's retarded to change this to please two/three people that post here regularly. Lurkers and non-regulars don't post, and everyone else that is a regular is fine with it.

    Let it go.

What size of screen are you using???? Oh I have to wheel a mouse wheel or flick the screen with my finger. I understand the complaint about too many stickies, but using the fact you have to scroll is just petty.
That is a terrible idea. Then you have to open an entirely different window. How about just unpin them? Just like has been done in the past.
Considering a lot of the supporters stuff is typically more informative, news announcement related, I have no problem with it being in the main forum and not the sub-forum. If there was a lot of discussion about coordination/planning of events and inside jokes etc, (what happens on facebook/twitter) then I would understand putting that in the sub-forum. There have been discussions about changing stadium atmosphere, but those discussions are about the whole stadium and not just the supporters areas.
That would be the case if there was any true discussions that belonged in there, but there very rarely are.
Yeah, I think you are in such a minority because you are seeing a problem that does not exist.
If their were 100s of people on this board with 100s of posts each day and several new threads each day, then I could see the desire to try to keep senior team discussion separate from all other Rapids entity discussions, but in its current state this forum is focused on the Rapids as an organization not just the senior team.

I get not wanting to have too many stickies, but I don't get your arguments. I'm not saying things are perfect, I just don't see the problems you are complaining about.

Funny thing is I don't see a need to sticky this thread. I would just create new threads for promoting each C38 event.

I like the single sticky because if people have questions about not just an event, but about the group in general, they can ask and get answers in one place. Look at the posts in the naming thread for example. I think that makes a lot more sense then digging around for old treads that are pretty much lost in the void when they pass the first page.

Good point. I just would go about it differently. I would sticky a locked thread with the main info and directing people to go to the C38 website and C38 email for more information.

It's not a big deal though. If this place were overly busy maybe it would be, but its not.
