I have a couple of home replicas from last year (thanks to the FO) and an authentic LS away-the Authentic is made of completely different fabric-it's not that loose nylon feeling stuff, it feels more like cotton while the replica is that nylon feely stuff. I am sure that is because the replica is cheaper, etc. But the replica always felt heavier. The authentic has that broken in cotton t-shirt feel. Anyone else notice this? Anyone have a new kit yet-what is that made of?
If by "kit" you mean "jersey", yes, that's what I'm talking about above, "mate". I'll have to look at the labels again when I get home, but it feels to me like very different material from last year's. It just seems much lighter to me.
Last year's wasn't made from recycled bottles were they? I remember one jersey last year was, but I forget which one.
i think you're thinking of the last USMNT jerseys? Nike was making big deal out of recycled bottle kits the past few years.
I saw Boniek wearing something like this on Monday night. It had "Houston" or "Dynamo" on the back across the shoulders. I'm guessing this one does not have that but it looked very good.
youngsters, get the authentics even if you have to save up. i have so many regrets of "jerseys unbought" that i get an ulcer everytime i see one on ebay go for $250+ that i could of bought back in 1985 for $20. <--- old guy.
I was just at the stadium shop this afternoon and I'm a little disappointed in the authentic version. First, they don't have the white one and don't expect to get it. Second, the Texas flag on the bottom and stripes on the shoulder are a rubbery kind of iron on. Seriously, they look like temporary tattoos on the shirt. Third, the authentics run a size small and are made out of a very light material that almost has a mesh feel to it. I was really keen on getting a white version so I went replica, but I went in there with the intent to get an authentic. P.S. There's a video on the Dynamo website that is buried somewhere above that says they are made out of recycled bottles.
I think the authentic design was geared more toward the player on the field in the heat then the consumer.
I just spent 40 minutes reading this thread. I'll keep this quick: My GAWD....after the unique design of years past and especially last year...to go to this lazy, uninspired, trainwreck of a boring-ass Academy clearance rack jersey...I must admit that I am extremely disappointed. Pimping this dung with an unveiling party??? Really? How epically disconnected are you from your fan base, guys??? Other teams are doing exhaustive research and talking to their FANS!!!...and you come forward with this crap. Absolute trash. I refuse to buy this worthless rag. Overreacting???...if you aren't overreacting at this lazy, careless trash you need to be bitch slapped. DAMNIT, Canetti!!!
I love those jackets. Boniek was wearing one when he was on República Deportiva too. The jersey being light and cool is a bad thing? Not just for players, but for fans in the stands. Please, give me a break. As for the rest of the comments in this thread, can I block everybody on BS? :-(
It's a home jersey, not a creativity contest. Do you think Celtic fans cry when they get a plain green and white hooped home shirt; Yankee fans cry over their plain home jersey, Stoke suppoerters lament their red and white stripes; or Madridistas cry about their plain whites? Get creative with the alternate jersey but leave the home jersey plain or iconic. Are the Liverpool forums blowing up every time they get a red jersey? lol
I'm with you with you on the "less is more" and iconic idea. Our jersey's will always be orange. However, this version is terrible. It looks so cheap, so rec league, so bad. Maybe it's the maxi pad looking sleeves or the lack of a sponsor. Perhaps it's the fact that Adidas just took a template jersey and made it Dynamo orange, placed a motto over the left shoulder, slapped the flag of Texas on the bottom corner, and called it a day. There are several good looking simple jerseys out there and you named a few. There are even a couple that have made their way into MLS this year (Philly's and Colorado's come to mind) and ours isn't one of them. Simple is good when it's done right. Still, I'm with the vast majority of Dynamo supporters that think we deserve better than this design which doesn't measure up to any of our previous shirts.
What'd I do? Eh, ******** it, block me. I stopped giving a ******** as soon as I found out that Westie is just a puppet created by Canetti.
Don't worry, I'll keep you unblocked and you'll keep me up to date on everything else. I'll just call it BigPonce. That will work. Just don't go start being annoying too.
The whole spill about simple is ridiculous! If that was the case and you want to go simple, those white sleeves should have also been orange, then it wouldn't have looked like something off the shelves. The Adidas Mike Walker filmed all these videos about all the little details and goes on and on for the other teams, but for the Dynamo he tries to sell us the little freaking triangles inside the jerseys, just hilarious, who the hell is going to see that? Anybody seen the new jerseys for the Timbers? Not saying there are the greatest out there, but you can tell they put time and energy into it.
I thought it would say "made by 100% child labor and abused workers". I always find it funny how much of the left-leaning soccer fans in the US seem to overlook these "important " issues when buying jerseys and gear (or Apple products)
