Strange that we never really had a "Kit and Logo" thread before. I decided to resurrect and re-name this thread since there is some consistency in topic, and sometimes it nice to see the changes over time. Anyways, today I saw the Whitecaps-Railhawks highlights and the Caps were wearing white-blue-white. (And I remember seeing this same combo in Portland last year or the year before.) I reeeally like this better than the all white. Am I alone? Does everyone prefer all white to breaking up the white with colour?
I've always thought they would play in white/blue/white just like the old days. Much better looking. I was disappointed they went with the Div 2 all-white scheme.
I like the all-white, but don't mind the white/blue/white either. It's the baby blue that irritates me. As long as it's dark blue, I'm OK with it, regardless how they mix it with white.
Caps are releasing new home kits on Wednesday at an invite only (season ticket holders) event. Think it will be streamed live on Whitecapsfc.com
First thought was: "They barely changed it!--why bother?" But overall I think the diagonal lines look sharp, and I'm glad the limited the baby blue to the logo (necessary) and half the collar. And overall, I guess since it's not that different in main colour scheme to the old one, new and old won't clash in the stands if lots of people wear them.
its a lot better than the spider man look, but i would like to see more of the dark blue color as it fits the history of the club back to their heydays in the NASL
I hate kits being changed every 2 years. Just a way to suck money out of the fans. If you change shirt sponsors I understand; but in the case it is just bullshit.
Why Bother? Because a lot of fans will run out and drop another 125 bucks just to have this "new" design. I am staying with the nice shirt I already have.
Shiek, apparently MLS Clubs are mandated to change at least one of the shirts every two years... I'm not saying it's right or wrong, or even passing an opinion along, I guess I'm just pointing it out so that you know it's not VWFC per se, but every club in MLS that has to change the shirts every so often. I'm glad a total overhaul wasn't done as we've seen with other teams/clubs/franchises in this city.
In that case, I applaud the WC FO for not making the change a complete overhaul, and I'll update my previous opinion with an optimistic one: in playing by league rules, they deliberately did fans a favour, to make sure the old jerseys and new jerseys don't clash in the stands--thereby relieving pressure on fans and parents of young fans to buy the new kit. Well done and thank you (the only source for the above opinion is my unfailing optimism).
