FC Edmonton has the ugliest, most boring logo in soccer.

Atlanta did the right thing and came up with a splendid new logo.

It's about time that Edmonton got a first class logo instead of this Soccer Ball on a Beer label.

I know this topic is purely subjective, but come on and get real. I can disprove very quickly.

The ugliest in soccer? Not a chance, try the Revs, Crew, and the Quakes for starters in MLS

Boring? Not near as dull as RSL or the Dynamo.

As a Crew fan I agree the logo is ugly. The difference is that it's very professional & ugly. FC Edmontons's logo is amateur & ugly.

Here are my reasons why this logo is among the worst in all soccer.

    1) Letters F and C are the most prominent in the logo, even bigger than the name of the city.
    2) Maple Leaf popping over the crest is the most cliché use of the Maple Leaf. I've seen it so many times, Ho Hum.
    3) Same Old Soccer Ball again - WOW! Cut and Paste the same soccer ball used on every kids soccer league team.
    4) Ribbon is straight out of Microsoft Word. Yikes!
    5) 3D Shadowing used everywhere is a cheesy way to juice up a logo that has little going for it.

Add a drill bit, oil well, skyline, wrench, anything would be better than this WordArt project.

Ok. I will agree with you it may be one of the most generic, but it has great colors which is something to build with.

And since you backtracked from obvious hyperbole, then yes I agree it could use some tweaking. They obviously wanted something traditional in an English sort of way. That I have no problem with, the execution is just a tad off.

I am not a Graphic Artist. It took an hour to mock up my own logo using Microsoft Paint and Word. Maybe someone who is graphically gifted can be inspired to build off of this concept and add in the colors: Blue, Silver and Black.

The LOGO Narrative is as follows:

    1) The logo is shaped like a triangle. The triangle symbolizes the Rocky Mountains. It also symbolizes a Teepee - which were abundant in Alberta before the Europeans arrived.

    2) The Circle symbolizes a soccer ball. The hexagon shape within the circle is reminiscent of a soccer ball's pattern, but it is actually a Hydro Carbon Molecule, which symbolizes the Gas and Oil found in the tar sands of Alberta. The molecule pattern gives the ball a 3 dimensional look. The circle can also be interpreted as a ornament or painted design on a Teepee.

    3) A Oil/Gas derrick appears above the ball (Oil/Gas buried in the earth).

    4) The Maple Leaf above the oil symbolizes the fire flaring above the derrick.

    5) The font is off the shelf TUNGA.

I feel that the border can be enhanced by adding another outline.

Feel free to share your comments, and add your own designs.

As a fan of FC Edmonton, I have been down this road many times. I am not the biggest fan of the name or the crest, but I love them because of what it represents (local pro soccer).

We have made up many, many mockups in our supporters group. I will share a few, most of which you could have seen if you had google image searched FC Edmonton.

Incidentally, I'm a huge FC Edmonton fan, and I agree we have an extremely boring and amateur crest...

    It's so sad.

All supporter submissions are much better than the existing logo. The first one by strob_z with the rabbit and red Maple Leaf seems timeless and classy. Can someone explain why the rabbit was chosen for most of these shields? I think a more powerful animal like a Big Horn Sheep would be better?

Because the big horns are rampant on the prairies? Jesus Christ.

We like the rabbits because they keep getting on the pitch and pausing the games. Edmonton is crawling with these hares.

The Big Horn Sheep is the Official Animal of Alberta... They happen to live in the Rockies, which is part of Alberta. .... It makes more sense than the Toronto Raptors. I haven't seen a living breathing dinosaur in a million years!

Thanks for the Rabbit explanation. I can see that working.

I would get that if we were the Alberta Football Club, but Edmonton is a solid three and a half hour drive to Jasper. Also the Rally Rabbit is a fairly unique unofficial mascot.

OP your mock up is a nightmare, it would be bad even if it was professionally adjusted.

The colour and design of FC Edmonton is actually pretty good, but the prominent 'FC' and soccer ball is redundant. Replace the soccer ball with a more unique symbol, incorporate the maple leaf in a different way other than Toronto FC (better yet not at all). Then it's well on its way.

I love some of these other user contributions, well done lot.
