    Happy Birthday!

Now see if you can use that birthday to weedle some news out of Garth or Jason tomorrow - something like...a name!

You mean the Open House? That's free.

The 4 for $40 is a ticket promo for tickets for the first four games - a great deal that I'm sure was planned to improve attendance on those early cold(er) games.

Have they posted the times for Findley and Wingert's talks?

I read it quickly and was just wondering "why the hell are they making people pay to come to this thing?"

    Thanks for the clarification

based on the one I went to before, they kind of just go with the flow of things. I'd guess around 2

Thanks guys, if I wasn't so timid in public I'd use the "It's my Birthday" card so much tomorrow.
"I have to go to the back of the line to get my stuff signed? NOPE"
"You're not revealing anything about the new striker? THINK AGAIN"
"You can't sign me as the new striker because I'm not talented?
    Oh, ok."

I wasn't totally aware of how serious Wingert's injury is - 8 to 10 weeks, just like Borchers. That's pretty rough, as we'll be down three starters for sure (two on the defense) when the season starts.

Yeah, he just got the boot off recently. He was limping noticeably today. Won't be able to practice until after the season starts.

************************. This season is going to suck so hard, the stress is going to be off the charts. I'm preparing myself for a 2008 type of season, hopefully we squeak into the playoffs.

That's funny - I just mentioned to someone else that this year may be a bit like 2008. Probably a slow start. Some of the new guys will really take off, others won't. By the end of the season, I expect the team to be quite competitive - the question is how long it will take to get to that point.

The big difference is I think the team has a much more solid foundation (coaching, veteran players, team culture & identity).

Just curious what ppl think our starting 11 will be in March?

    I am thinking:

    Sabo -- Plata (Findley out?)
    Gil (Morales out?)
    Ned Seba
    Beckerman
Beltran - Schuler -KWS (Borchers out?)-Mansally/Palmer (Wingert out?)
    Rimando

Keep in mind that there is potential for Sabo, Rimando, Beckerman and Gil (I think) to all miss time in March due to international matches.

    Okay so...

.........Sandoval (Sabo away) -- Plata (Findley out?)
    ...............................Ned ((Gil away (Morales out?))
    .........Seba.....................................................Viana
    .............................Alvarez (Beckerman away)
Beltran - Schuler -KWS (Borchers out?)-Mansally/Palmer (Wingert out?)
    ...........................Antinella/Saunders (Rimando away)

    My head hurts.

I'm beginning to think with the more that I hear, that Khari Stephenson may make this team to play the #10 role in Javi's absences. I'd expect him (or someone else) to fill that role at the top of the diamond.

If Sabo is there instead of Sandoval and Khari is running the diamond, I'm surprisingly okay with that lineup. I think Seba/Viana and Ned work fine in the wide spots. Alvarez isn't Beckerman, but is decent. The backline is fairly solid. My biggest concern there is organizing, and Mansally's positioning.

If Saunders doesn't get a starting chance elsewhere, I feel good about him filling in for Nick.

I'm getting more confident that Plata will be an upgrade to Paulo Jr even though he isn't likely to fill Espindola's shoes.

Dang. The front office needs to have a "Guess the opening day starting XI" contest for this years team. Hopefully by the end of the season it looks like this:

I would hope sooner, but who knows.

To look at the positive side of things, it will definitely give the up and coming players a chance to earn their spots. This is definitely going to be a throw them in the deep end of the pool situation, and I hope the players vying for starting positions realize that.

My sources say Garson may have very well gone with a legendary "jumpman" style striker at the two spot:

Call me crazy, but I have heard Rimando played something other than goalie in college. With the potential of Saunders joining up, I would like to see Rimando play mid just for like 10 minutes or so, just so I could get a Rimando regular jersey to complement the black goalie jersey.
