Memo has drastically improved in the air. Euro football has been good to him. One of the few mexican keepers that doesn't do that cristo shit...Aka Oswaldo on his knees. I also noticed he is better on his line during free kicks. The mexican media can't or won't see his change He is our best keeper imo.
One of the main problem with mexican keepers is free kicks. Corona against the salvies Michel every other game No recorren su linea...Nuestro mejor portero en tiros libres es Orozco.
Oswaldo was above average for club. He became a little bitch for el tri. I don't want to derail thread.
Amen!! Till this day i dont understand why most mexican keepers use that cristo BS. They turn their heads away from the ball hoping it hits them in the chest . The 2 only keepers i see in mexico not using that cristo BS is corona and ochoa.
I have not watched Ochoa since he left. But if he is doing better in the air from crosses and corner kicks, I'll say he is above Corona. Right now Corona is riding the crest fresh from the Olympics and the press loves him. Ochoa made the right decision leaving and like others said, lest' hope he gets in a better team.
What he lacked in keeper skills he made up for in leadership skills. Also, He kept a clean sheet for the entire gold cup tournament in 2003. I'm not defending him, but I give credit where credit is due. His father's passing away didn't stop him from showing up to the world cup. For that I tip my hat off to him. Of course its easier for Mexicans to always notice the negative shit, or the flaws thats wrong with everyone. Well guess what p*tos? You aren't perfect either. Learn how to critique constructively and see the good in people. You'll be surprised how long that will go. Carry on.
Bossing people around and yelling at everyone doesn't make you a leader. Leaders know to lead by example and Oswaldo took cheap shots at the opposition and bitched at the ref. The rest of the team followed his example. Even-temperedness is a vastly underrated leadership trait. Chuy Corona has absolutely lost his mind at times in his career, both on and off the pitch. The difference is that he projects calm and security. When Oswaldo would lose his shit after giving up a goal, you would see that reflected in the disjointed way the rest of the team, especially the defense, would respond.
Some guy yelling and throwing tantrums is consider a "leader"? Media hype, that's what it was. Him showing up when his dad passed. Ok. I agree with you on that. No one said we are perfect, take the spazz glasses off.
Not to mention Oswaldo is the reason for "El Aztecazo" with that Christo BS after he gave up that rebound. Against Los Ticos.
his new team might be Liverpool... why? Barca would let go Valdez, and they could be interested in Reyna... So Liverpool would make a move for Ochoa.... better read this http://www.vavel.com/mx/futbol-mexicano/210172-guillermo-ochoa-llegaria-al-liverpool.html
They are basing their story on Valdez leaving Barca. First of all. Valdez contract ends in June 2014. A lot of things can happen in a year and a half.
I'm always one for ex Chivas bashing but I just cannot abide by this. Oswaldo gives up some shit goals sometimes but he's also made a ton of badass saves. There's a reason he earned the monicker of "San" Oswaldo
true, the harsher outlook stems from his personality I guess. If he had el Brodys personality he would be seen differently /p
The reason people viewed him that way was because the guy played years after his prime. He did make some fantastic saves, but he (as well as most of the team) peaked in 2005. After that it was a downward slope.
Oswaldo's time as a starter with the NT should have ended after the 2006 WC post-2006 it should have either been Corona or Ochoa fighting for that starter GK position
Agree, but how much can we blame him for that, how much can you blame Conejo for starting in 2002 not in 2006 and again in 2010? /p
