I've never seen him play in any other games besides the 2010 WC and I guess we'll really find out how he compares to South Korean players soon since he's with Suwon now, but does he get excessive praise only because he is North Korean? Or is he as good as the other top strikers in Asia? If he were a South Korean citizen, would he start on the A team? How does he compare to PCY and LDG? (I know bsk hates LDG but I consider him the 2nd best SK striker)

He's not good enough to warrant a thread here. He made his choice so it's a moot point as he will never ever be in our selection pool.

    JDS > LDG.

    On the other hand ..

Your "flag" and your frivolous use of the South-North Korean moniker makes me cringe.

I like LDG too, just not a fan of him starting NT games. Jong is good but PCY, LDG, Son, Ji, Lee Keun Ho and Wookie would all be ahead of him imo. His stats in the J-league is impressive though, even score 22 in a season. I'm sure he'll do fine at Suwon. Also reports say he is a South Korean citizen.

My question has nothing to do with his decision. I just wanted to make that comparison to help me put things into perspective.

Thanks for actually answering my question :)
And I'm aware of his citizenship/nationality situation, should've said if he were to play for SK

lol good one. but how else would i differentiate the two national teams? I know he's better than all of the other NK players. so sensitive lol

who cares he's not even a KNT player

But I think he will score around 15-20 goals seeing how a shitty player like LDG puts in 20 a season

I don't know why you're laughing out loud like a circus monkey. One is Korea/we/us/our and the other is Nork/them/they/crazies.

    /worthless thread.

Because there's no such thing as South Korea or North Korea.

I always cringe when I see younger Koreans introducing themselves as "South Korean" as if it's an actual thing. You're either Korean or you're not. The South/North Korean moniker was created by the world elite to divide and conquer the peninsula. Facepalm at anyone using it willingly.

People keep saying "Oh twitter twitter twitter JDS's parents are SOUTH Korean what's he doing playing for the NORTH Korean team lolwtfbbq?" Hell, if I was in JDS's position and I wasn't good enough for the KNT (which he isn't) but good enough to play for the DPRKNT I'd do it in a heartbeat.

IMO JDS's impact on popular culture will go farther than his impact on the pitch. I have great respect for him for choosing to play for the DPRKNT instead of Zapan (not that playing for Zapan would be wrong, i.e. Lee Tadanari). Not to mention his heart is in the right place.

There's the answer I'm lookin for. thanks

    형님 이시였구나...
You know I never though of it that way. I mean I knew how it happened, just never thought of it the way you explained it. And just for the record, when people ask me what my ethnicity is, I just say "Korean" and occasionally some dumbass asks me North or South? That's the only case when I refer to myself as South Korean. In this thread I only used the terms because the fact of the matter is that there are two separate national teams, DPRK and RoK, each representing their respective "sides" and the squads are not interchangeable. But I'll definitely keep what you said in mind.

Lol that's pretty interesting (and silly). Good find

I think Jung Dae-Se is a better player than LDG. Has more balance of a game than LDG. If he was playing for ROK NT, he would be #2 striker imo behind PJY.

A Jong in good form is great. He will score many goals in K-league if they can find his form.

He often score beatiful goals too. He was great at Bochum but not so much at Koeln.
I don't think that many K League strikers would score 10 + goals in one B2 season. Too bad we will never know though.

Sorry I should have separated those two sentences as they represented two different trains of thought. Anyway others have expounded on why he's not good enough, i.e., the attacking options we have that have performed on club and international level.

Good for North Korea in terms of strikers.
In comparison to our NT, he's at best a one cap player. I hate LDG but even I would put him head over heels abovce JTS.

This is a classic Suwon signing. Suwon is a club where reputation exceeds actual value of their trophy show-room. Suwon's branding is elitist but when it comes to signing coaches and players, it fails to deliver. Suwon deserves a proper striker; Jong is not a game-changer like Dejan. However, Jong has a reputation and this will sell tickets, which may be enough to maintain the club's branding.

Can someone close this thread or move it to the K-league sub-forum? Thanks.
