FC Edmonton cut three more players today in addition to the four last week : http://the11.ca/2012/10/02/u-23-keeper-misiewicz-one-of-three-cut-loose-by-fc-edmonton/ Glad to see Frenchmen Hatchi go, Augustin was ok, sad to see Michal Miscievicz released, he played well for Canada's U23 this year before coming to FCE.
Well if you count the reserves team (another expense that could be cut I guess) Edmonton had 33 players, so now they are down to 26. http://www.fcedmonton.com/content/2011-roster?field_reserve_value_many_to_one=Reserve
Does anyone here own the jersey? Was interested in buying the Drillers throwback, but for 120 shipped it better be pretty good.
FC Edmonton is getting ready to announce who they're new head coach will be apparently, and he seems to be someone with ties to the Vancouver Whitecaps organization. Could be good for the Eddy's in the way of maybe getting a player or 2 on loan for next season from the Whitecaps as well. Don't think it would happen but Ettiene Barbara would be nice!!!
I wonder if the new coach is Paul Ritchie, who was Martin Rennie's assistant in the NASL with the Railhawks? Very interested to see the direction the club takes with their next coach!
Heard today that Colin Miller is the one interviewed for the FC Edmonton head coach position who has ties to the Whitecaps in the past. Guess we'll see if he's hired soon enough as they will hire someone in the next week or two for sure.
Saw this in the Philly forum: http://www.oursportscentral.com/services/releases/?id=4514708 Former Union Jamaican LB trialist, Lance Laing signs with Edmonton (NASL).
Good pick up for FCE along with Niel Hlavty from Minnesota today, size for the backline was definately lacking last year. Ex TFC midfielder Cristian Nunez and ex TFC Academy striker Tristan Jackman will also be at FC Edmontons Canadian combine next week.
New FC Edmonton GM announced today and info on adding seating capacity for Clarke Stadium : http://the11.ca/2013/01/25/new-fce-...ats-will-be-installed-by-april-15/#more-10699
I found these two articles and thought they were a good read. They're from the perspective of two FCESG members and I think gives some interesting thoughts on how the club has been run so far and what the future holds in 2013... A turning point for FC Edmonton and its supporters (Part 1) With FC Edmonton about to enter its third NASL season, the team appears to be facing what Steven Sandor has astutely called a "make-or-break" year… A turning point for FC Edmonton and its supporters (Part 2) The Eddies are about to begin their third full NASL season with a new GM, a new head coach and a lot on the line. The team's long-term future …
Great to see so many Canadians on FCE this year, looking forward to seeing Jalali and Roberts especially from this group of five.
FC Edmonton released a new website today. It is much better than the awful site for the last few years.
Wondering what the Eddies fans think about letting Hamilton go...IMO it was a bad move for a team that needs more fans. I don't know, but it seems you should keep a fan favorite when they are a respected player in the league. Am I missing something?
I'm dissapointed he won't be on this years team. Guess new coach Colin Miller thinks he has a better group of defenders and he wants to put his stamp on the team, we'll see how the Eddies perform, but Hammy's character and community service will be missed! Hope he gets on with another NASL team, maybe San Antonio or the Cosmos.
I am surprised Shaun Saiko was not signed by one of the Canadian MLS teams, he seems to have more in him than NASL.
FC Edmonton director of soccer Joe Petrone has resigned his position and is working on to bringing an NASL expansion franchise to Calgary.
