On September 9, Buffalo City FC announced Share resigned from his head coach position and would be joining newly formed Spanish Club Atletico Andalucia CF. One day later on the 10th of September 2009, Atlético Andalucía CF confirmed the acquisition of Mike Share as their new Manager/Head coach. Mike Share commented on his new move "I am very excited to come back to Spain and start what I think will be a fantastic project. The club is very ambitious and I am confident that we can achieve all our goals. I feel that our project will be the first of its kind in Spain and that was a major factor in my decision to come back to Europe." Share added "I want to thank Buffalo City FC, I have enjoyed my time at the club and the players and fans have been fantastic. I feel that the club has been left in a great position to build on last seasons success and I am sure the club will have a great 2010 season" On the 17th of September 2009, American Soccer team Buffalo City Football Club announced that Mike Share their former Head Coach accepted Spanish club Atletico Andalucia CF the position of Director of Football.
Here's another interesting line from http://www.buffalocityfc.com/about.html "Buffalo City FC’s first team plays in the Newly Formed National Pro-League will commence play in 2010." What?
Buffalo City was sold and it is no longer named Buffalo City. The site that is up doesn't have any current info. That was the former owner of buffalo city trying to start a EPL backed national league in the United States and Canada........ Obviously that didn't happen and he has since moved back to Spain. The group that bought Buffalo City consists of former Queen City FC employees who were brought into BCFC and who left after it became apparent the new group had no idea how soccer worked in the US. They are now called FC Buffalo, so this thread is irrelevant.
Well, it seems that both sites of FC Buffalo and Buffalo City FC are up. This confuses me on where to go __________________________________________________________________ If you are Canisius College employee, check Canisius College Employee Discount Program
taken this evening from the FC Buffalo Facebook page... The NPSL is entering a new phase this year as some teams will have the option to turn professional. The league will be making an announcement soon regarding the structure of the salary cap, but paid players will be allowed in the NPSL for the first time in 2012. Teams will either be professional or amateur in makeup, as the NCAA states that amateur players cannot play with professional players without forfeiting their college eligibility. College players can play against professionals though, so you can expect to see some more important friendly dates on our calendar this season. FC Buffalo will continue to host an amateur team this season, and we're very excited to be announcing some more signings soon.
I believe amateur players can play on the same team as professional players as long as they do not receive payment to play. I know the MLS Reserve League has professionals, trialists, and academy (amateur) players on the same team. I know those academy players do not lose their amateur status (unless they sign a contract). Check the link below (Proposal Number 2009-22). http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/AMA/legislative_council/Jan 10/Attachment A.pdf
I suspect that this decisioin to play pros might have been a concession made because FCNY is considering dropping from USL Pro to the NPSL. But it's just a hunch on my part...
The decision to go Pro, or at least the ability to sign Professional players, was made last year at the AGM. http://www.rocketcityunited.com/news_content.cfm?showNews=289&subHeader=News I think incorporating professional players may have been put on the back burner last year with the league/teams being allowed to change to for-profit (some added shareholders, few teams went public), nice expansion, and direct US Open qualifying being added. Though we have nice expansion again, I think the league is better prepared now to incorporate it than they were this time last year.
FC Buffalo head coach Dan Krzyzanowicz has arranged for some local spotlight friendlies leading up to May 13th's NPSL opener. Get your 2012 season ticket scarf before they run out. Less than 10 remain! The highlight of the preseason schedule is a return trip to Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, home to the USL Pro's Rochester Rhinos. The match will be a 2 p.m. affair on Tuesday, May 8. Ticket info is forthcoming, but we're hoping to have some to give away. Additionally, the Blitzers will spend April 29 mixing it up with some of Buffalo's top collegiate soccer clubs: St. Bonaventure, Medaille and Niagara. More info on that forthcoming.
Ordonez to Play for FC Buffalo Sunday, April 01, 2012 ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - April 1 - FC Buffalo of the National Premier Soccer League has announced that former Erie Community College standout Pablo Ordonez (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) will play for the Blitzers this season. Ordonez, who was a 2011 first-team All-Region III selection, recorded 19 goals and 11 assists in 2011 to rank eighth in NJCAA Division III. He also was a first-team All-Western New York Athletic Conference pick and was named the Region III Male Athlete of the Week on Oct. 10 after scoring four goals and recording three assists in two wins. In 2010, Ordonez was chosen a first-team All-WNYAC pick in 2010 and picked once as the Region III Male Athlete of the Week. Ordonez had a season-best five assists in a 2011 Region III Tournament win over Adirondack CC on Oct. 22. In his two seasons at ECC, Ordonez scored 32 goals and assisted on 18 others while guiding the Kats to back-to-back Region III Tournament appearances.
Ouch, talk about an inspiring competition for the players and the fans. I am sure that will get them a lot of attention from their respective markets and politicians.

Looking forward to seeing how the league does this year. Still going to really support Erie and Buffalo (and the few friends squads that I made along the way).
