Last Sunday ESPN here in the US had a report on the Beitar Jerusalem team, and the fact that they have never signed an Arab player. It also mentioned that the fans (La Familia) of Beitar have more than once 'forced' team ownership against signing an Arab/Muslim player.

Considering the latest escalations in the region i wanted to take my fellow Jew's opinion on this? Isn't racism strictly taboo in Sports?

What's more appalling to me is that this is actually hurting the team money wise.

PS: By any mean form or shape i do not intend this to become a "my God is better than your God" type of crap.

And Atletic Bilbao only signs basque players. But you don't hear Chivas say Death to non Mexicans or Atleti fans scream death to non basques.

So you are saying that makes it OK? How would you feel sitting next to Lazio fans while they are screaming Sieg Heil?

Racism needs to be condemned regadless our personal beliefs.

I don't like racism so I agree with the last part.
I will never be at a game sitting with Lazio fans and I don't even know what Sieg Heil means. Is it a Nazi saying like Heil Hitler? Are Lazio fans known for hating Jews? I don't watch Serie A so I don't know this stuff. I admit I know very little about what life in Europe is like.
I feel like this topic belongs in a Politics forum or somewhere else. The topic is supposedly about Beitar Jerusalem but not one Beitar Jerusalem player or game has been discussed here. Do you follow the Israeli league and/or national team? Recently most posts in this forum have been by me (see the Europa League topic for an example).

Yes Ricken, Lazio fans are notoriously bad. And so is La Familia. The club (Beitar) doesn't do it's job policing them, and as such, they get poor attendance cause no one wants to sit near them, and because of some shoddy ownership, the club doesn't currently have the money to have a top side anymore.

What the article fails to mention is Arab clubs that play in the Israel Premier League, or in the 2nd or third division, have equally disgusting fans, who will curse out the very country they live in, and receive benefits and freedoms in. Not saying 2 wrongs don't make a right, but it isn't good journalism to not present the other cases of racism in the country itself.

That being said, you're support a club in Germany, so certainly you should understand fan violence and what the DFL is planning on doing. I was at Eintracht Frankfurt last night, and both the Mainz and Frankfurt ultras were quiet until the 12th minute and 12 second mark to protest the club and the DFL's decision to potentially disband the Ultras/Hooligans.

If you have any other questions regarding the subject (Beitar, Israeli football Racism in football), please feel free to ask below, though I believe this forum should be used to talk about specific teams and what is going on, on the field.

I don't support racism in any way, and agree it's disgusting, but discussing it on BigSoccer isn't exactly the best avenue to end it.

Burning clubs memorabilia and valuaables ? Yeah that shoes real love for the team.
Anyways kudos to those whoo cheered and even more kudos to the club for braking the ice and bringing in Muslim players. Now if Lazio buys an Israeli (they were set on getting Maher or whatever his name was a while back) I will me happy. :p

Plenty of teams do this but it doesn't make it right.

Beitar fans are known for being the craziest and one day I hope they calm down but its not gonna happen any time soon. Last thing Israel needs is bad press
