Hour and a half episode means the season is gonna start out right. I haven't looked that closely at the cast list but I like that Russell Swan and Jonathan Penner are coming back... Well Russell Swan for certain. Being wrong about the inculsion of Jimmy Johnson, I will wait and see how Jeff Kent and Lisa Whelchel do.

Where has Ringo been? I don't know if I can participate in this thread sans Ringo.

I would like to spend an extended amount of time on that island, minus the cobras.

Loved the 90 minute premiere. Definitely the way to go. Three teams should make for some interesting strategy. The three returning injured players are great choices. Thank God it wasn't Colton.

I was an early rooter for Zane but after his performance in the challenge. Screw that. Glad he's gone.

I was always a big fan of Penner and hated when he was evacced from Fans v Favs. I also suggest watching Down Periscope. He's got a role in the movie as one of the sub drivers. Hilarious.

How on earth can a semi-obscure actress from television show that ended 24 years ago and has stayed out of the spotlight since get instantly recognized? And, the girl who's boyfriend watches a lot of baseball who was able to recognize Jeff Kent? Gimme a break. I used to watch a lot of baseball and I wouldn't have been able to figure that one out. I don't find either of those two outings believable at all.

If those people were to say, "he kind of looks like Jeff Kent" or "she kind of looks like the girl from Facts of Life" that would be one thing. They are so average looking, they might look vaguely familiar as those people if you knew your shit about tv or baseball - but there is no way you could be certain about either of them. Especially the gal who has been out of television since 1988. Please.

I'm going to go out on the limb and say the producers decided to leak the info of the covert famous people to one tribe member from each of those teams just to create show dynamics. I just didn't find either of those discoveries/outings as authentic.

I recognized the chick who played Blair instantly. The Facts of Life was a staple of early 80's sitcoms right up there with Different Strokes, and I've seen it referenced on shows like Family Guy, so I don't find it hard to believe that someone (particularly) from a certain age group would recognize her.

Jeff Kent, yeah I'm not on board with that one. I can't imagine a girlfriend paying a lick of attention to her boyfriend's fanatical baseball tendencies.

Fair enough, I'll concede that the outing of Lisa was legitimate. I was a kid when Facts of Life was on, so my memories aren't the same I guess.

Yea, as someone who grew up in the 80s, I think I would would have pegged Blair from Facts of Life. I might not have recognized the face right away, but with the voice I think I would have figured it out.

She was recognized, but I think it would take an older person to do it.

Jeff Kent, I think he must have shared his whole name, she said something like I recognized his name, at least I think.

Russell Swan is soon to be out. he was a jerk at the challenge. They can't stand him. I thought he was gone last night, but I think they did the right thing.

The fanatical baseball tendencies in our household are mine.

My S.O. said "that's Jeff Kent" the moment he came on frame. Not even "Is that Jeff Kent?"'

Haha, now that I think about it my wife pretty much can't stand soccer but she'd be able to recognize Clint Dempsey or Landon Donovan in a heartbeat.

Yeah I don't remember Russel Swan being so annoying the first time around. He'll probably be the 1st of the returning 3 to go if what's his name doesn't fall off a cliff or something.

Good stuff. I like the 3-team concept to get started. But in typical Survivor fashion, I expect they'll abandon the 3-team model very soon.

And yes, I would have known Lisa the instant she spoke. I like how it was handled. He didn't make a big deal out of it, but rather asked her in private how she would like to proceed. Class move.

Trying to figure out if Russell's tribe is really that awful or if with the smaller teams the weaker links are exposed quicker. Smart vote by both Malcom and Denise to keep Russell, I think he is more likely to stay loyal if a merge comes soon and he gives them the best chance at winning the next challenge.

But he's so annoying. I was hoping not to have to listen to him for another week...

I don't care for Russell too much, but the girl bothered me more.

Anyhoo, that was a pretty smooth takedown of her by Russell at TC.

Where did the old rule "you can't sit the same people out in back-to-back challenges" go? This ability for the teams to sit their weakest members each and every challenge is really what's at issue in the destruction of the whatever tribe. It's bogus, completely.

Probst explained it a while back in some tweets. "back to back challenges" is only within a single episode. Since there has only been one challenge in each of these episodes, the rule doesn't apply.

Still completely lame. No strategy needed, just keep running your strongest players out there and win. Everything is already weighted against the tribe losing members - no reward, no fishing gear, no tarp - and to set the challenges up to also favor the strongest is lame IMO.

Three tribes has proven lame. Russell led tribe was terrible. The two remaining players are dead meat after the merge.

That's what I'd have though as well but the "dead meat" idea was dead wrong, they merged in rather well.

As for back to back challenges the psycho girl had only done 2 of them, total...WTF said Jeff.

And again she sits one out then is usless in another. But it's the ""beauty queen who gets blindsided, thinking she was safe.

I'm getting to like the 'child star' wassername? from a slow beginning she's come on. She was tough in the mud and looked like she enjoyed it.

Guess no-one cares anyway..........hello....hello...is anybody there.
