there's a shipload of girls leaving ASSE but catala is the only name i recognize so far: she's one of france's up-and-comers and les vertes best player by far.

for the stadium there are some photos on the stadium thread.

So my buddy is living in St Etienne, I happened to watch them on TV (thanks BEin), and they looked like a fun team to watch.

too bad they sell their talent to other competitors and don't aspire for much, though Galtier is trying to change that a little

how is their stadium renovation coming along? there is very little that can compare to the great atmosphere their ultras supply most of the time. :)

Most teams in France either sell their players to the big French clubs, or Arsenal right?

Aubemyang, Hamouma, and Codade look like future EPL stars. Also, Clement had a great game on Friday.

I got to see a WC 98 game there, Chilé v Austria.

They played the #1 song in Chilé and it was some salsa type song, and all the Chilean fans, especially the ladies, were shaking it.

Then they played the #1 song in Austria - "Rock you like a Hurricane" from 1985!!!

    :)

Also had a great pizza a few blocks from the train station.

Yeah, it should be interesting how most of the clubs short of PSG continue on. I actually don't mind the natural transition of players as long as one's club can do a perfect combination of developing their own youth through their club's academy system and scouting elsewhere for cheap yet talented potential elsewhere.

thing is st.etienne was a big club, they're like udinese, great scouting and to some degree youth but if they could just hold on to the players more instead of selling them right away or outright they could really have a solid squad to go for the title, just to name a few players; gomis, riveiere, guarin, mirrallas, machado, camara(?), sahko, piatti, postiga, pongelle

St Etienne was a big club in the days of Johnny Rep and Platini, but that was a long, long time ago.

When was the last time they were a contender?

Seriously, I'm not being funny - I just wasn't paying attention.

the part that bothers me is that st etienne was a top club that shouldn't be were its at right now(though they are improving little by little), compare the teams with most titles for their respective league and you'll find them as dominant favorites with some variation, not so with the greens
I understand they had some financial troubles but they could really go back to contender days with more planning and more vision

I like the way you are thinking. Its going to be tough to beat the PSG's, OL, OM's, Lille and soon Monaco, but good management, good financial management and making sure that the academy is developing talents should work.

Samora- how did you get the green fever?

I think that's what they will struggle with also, and instead being up there with those teams or at least challenging and getting into CL/EL they could fall farther back into the outskirts with the likes of rennes and toulouse

green fever? I only catch the bordeaux flu when I am in france, but I'm really just another french club fan a la SportBoy but with less gusto and not as opinionated
which leads me to my question, how did you catch the french fever?

I used to pay more attention to the French league a few years back, but its reinvigorated by BEin sports having games on TV.

Saw the 90 in 30 highlights on Bein. Pretty great win in Paris. I'm really enjoying watching Les Verts in action on Bein.
