    He is privileged because:
    1) he lives in Bavaria - one of the wealthiest regions of Europe with a high quality of life

    2) in Germany kids who are good at football are the popluar guys at school - J.Green probably was one of those kids other kids wanted to hang around with from the moment he kicked a ball for the first time). Take Subotic as an example: when he was a child in Germany, he had a lot of friends with whom he played football - then his family moved to the US and all of a sudden he wasn`t the popular kid anymore and struggled to find friends with whom he could play football. That is IMO the reason why he felt more at home in Germany than in the US.

    3) he flies to Miami one or twice a year according to his father - which shows that his parents are rather wealthy

I think it'd be more proper to say they are doing just fine especially given we know so little about them.

    I see.

So, I guess the time I meet a baller from Maryland (highest income state in America) in a Portland pick-up game, I'll know I'm in the presence of a charmed life.

Sorry, but I don`t understand the word "baller" in that context (football, basketball, baseball?)

You missed the point of his comment. he's saying that just because Bavaria is a wealthy region doesn't mean that everyone in bavaria is wealthy.

Thanks for the explanation. I did not want to claim that everybody who lives in Bavaria is wealthy. And when I alluded to the high quality of life in Bavaria, I actually thought that it was clear that you don`t have to be wealthy in order to enjoy the riches of the Bavarian way of life.

That looks like a really heavy drink; it's twice the size of your head.

It is a three litter beer and for anyone going to Berlin, it is the easiest way ever to pick up drunk Australian girls. I have had probably 30 random tourists take pictures of me drinking beers like that. Btw that glass and type of beer come from Bavaria and when German teams win a Cup, they celebrate with those 3 liter beers.

No joke with the Aussie girls btw.

Playing with Bayern's U19 vs Stuttgart right now, game is broadcast on Sport1, a German sports channel (Livestream here: http://zattoo.com/view#dsf but I don't think it's possible to view it outside of Germany). Half-time right now, 1:1. Green scored the goal for Bayern.

Is he a kid Germany would be playing in their top youth sides? I know its likely difficult to say, if he is indeed close, but we do have some pretty knowledgable folks around here so if anyone can provide insight that would be great.

He hasn't been invited to a German youth national team for almost a year. Played some games for the U15 and U16. The German NT manager Robin Dutt was at the Stuttgart-Bayern game, so he might get an invitation in the next time again.
