TDS reporting he is interested in trying out a USA jersey. Leading the Bayern Munich U17 teams in goals this year from a winger role.

According to this article from October he was born in Tampa:
"American ears should perk up at the mention of Green, who is another in the ever-growing number of American-Germans coming through the youth ranks. Although he has lived in Germany virtually his entire life, he was born in Tampa. U.S. Soccer is undoubtedly keeping a watchful eye on him, but up to now he’s played a handful of matches for Germany’s U16 team."

He was waiting for a call-up to the US U-18 camp that never came and he will be with Bayern's U-19s next year

Seems like a smart, well-spoken kid. In his situation, it is best not to make one-sided statements either way and keep his options open. I really hope the youth coaches and Klinsmann do their best to convince these kids to play for the US and do it promptly.
Also wondering how well these kids speak english and if they are able to communicate with you effectively or if you need to use a translator part time.

If they do not then they will learn. Tom Dooley did not speak a word of English when he got his first US cap.

True. I remember reading an interview with him in which he stated that the only thing that he could say when he arrived was, "Cheesburger, please."

From the Tampa article I would be shocked if Julian did not speak English fluently, comes over once or twice a year to visit his Dad and his brother came over for high school. Obviously all these dual nationals are American but Julian seems much more connected to the US and his US family compared to most.

Klinsmann is getting involved. Sounds like Julian Green will be playing for the US youth teams in the future

Very interesting to see Klinsy get involved instead of his other scouts. Sounds like he really covets him.

Speaking from observational experience it is the German Ghetto, which is Nothing in comparison to the us.

I def agree, but how would you put it in American terms? ghetto ultra light?

I should add my experience comes from 2 basketball players who had children and left. The played in the 2nd division in Jena and the mothers live in the Plattenbau now...

    What...are you talking about?

Aside from that, Germany is a living, breathing melting pot. You all are only seeing the diversity within that country from an aggregated, ocular perspective. It makes for quite the interesting case study, especially when one wants to survey political trends...

But we don't do that here. :)
