Announcement of team name http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/JoseGarciaSoccer/166560 Private meet and greet between supporters group La Furia Roja 1881 and Phoenix City owners group http://www.azkicksit.com/new-usl-pr...y-team-name-team-colors-head-coach-announced/ Wiki Page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_City_FC
Apparently Robertson has been running a youth soccer outfit in Phoenix for a few years now. You think it's possible that could be an in-road to an integrated organization?
I can't say too much about this, but the owners group has a few options for academy/youth program integration.
In any case and whatever youth club(s) they choose, it'll likely be more of a "youth affiliates" than an actual academy.
No, we are not associated with the Cactus Pricks, which are the supporters group for FC Tucson. We, LFR1881, are the supporters group for PCFC. We are pretty friendly with the Cactus Pricks since we know many of them through American Outlaws.
This article came out yesterday. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/azetc/articles/20120831phoenix-soccer-group-still-confident.html Positives are the $1.5M operating budget for the first year.
Do they have an official homepage with informations about the coach, team, club? Do they have contact addresses (e-mail, phone)?
Not yet, it is officially "in the works" and should be out soon. They are having that meet-n-greet on Friday so you can meet them yourself.
Well actually it just says that $1.5 million is the normal operating budget for a USL Pro team, not what Phoenix will actually spend. But it does highlight that this new ownership group has bigger pockets than other tries with minor league soccer in AZ.
up, but a little sparse. Surprised they didn't at least put the info for their meet n greet on there.
I'm curious as to how you can "meet the team" if they - on September 7 - shouldn't, by all rights, actually have players yet. If they've been in stealth mode and busy signing players that they'll unveil tonight, ( a ) would that surprise you and ( b ) would you expect they'd be guys who played for the Monsoon or who were hanging around Phoenix? Because I have never ever heard of a team that was planning to play its inaugural game in April have players in September. That's just me.
I was wondering the same thing. My best guess is that the 'staff' is part of the team and that's all they've got at this point. But who knows.
From the podcast today, it sounds like they're gonna bring in more than a few Cameroonian/African players, along with guys fom Mexico, and locals. May be an interesting mix.
