    Not a suggestion --- it's just true.

Too bad I'm more of a Gunners fan...

Hope this turns into a good move for Clint. Spurs are a solid team but have lost out a bit when they lost their CL spot for this season. Interesting to see if they can make it into the Top 4 this year.

This is a damn good side. Top 5 in the league, for sure, but I think really
competing for 3rd or 4th this season

    -------------Adebayor-------------
    Bale-------Dempsey-------Defoe
    ------ Dembele----Sandro-------
    --------- 4 defenders across------

** Lennon and Gylfi Sigurdsson are the rotation/cover players for the top 4 attackers
** Parker and Livermore for Dembele/Sandro

Let Dempsey have his roaming role, and it will be full power

I am hoping that AVB comes around to his senses- like all managers that have coached Dempsey- that he's a cat you absolutely have to have on the pitch. He's that good.

Probably way too early but how much is Clint expect to making at Tottenham? Also I noticed a few links from the fan forum at FFC. Some seem to be going overboard with hate. Did they already forget what he's done for them?

I am a bit worried about PT, but there is Europa, so he will certainly get PT. It will be interesting to see how he is used and whether AVB seems to favor him, which I'd be surprised at. IMO a younger manager will tend to look at skill whereas an older manager will cut to the chase and look for the win, the fight, which I think Dempsey can excel at.

The only thing he'll be playing is his iPod while he sits with the rest of the WAGs, ;)

I just realized he'll be playing with Old Man Friedel... how cool! Brad's been out of the US team picture for so long, I sometimes forget he's even still around. I look forward to the season.

He's been one of the top players in the EPL for the past 2-3 season. They didn't just fork over all that cash to just sit him. Give him a few weeks to get up to speed and i would think that he's in the starting line-up week in and week out

So this article claims Deuce will earn $22.2m (£14m) over the next 3 years which is a salary of £4.6m, £90k per week.

I really doubt that's true, if that was the case he'd earn more than Adebayor, the highest salary we've ever had. It also says that Friedel was on £4m which is unlikely. I'd wager he's probably on £60k with the same bonus structure as the rest of the team.

One of the under-reported things about Spurs transfers is our bonus structure, which is performance based. For example Modric wages were often misreported, he earned around £3.5m per season which was boosted by simply appearing in a certain number of matches. Also the most significant bonus we have is being in the CL. During CL seasons our wages increase around 50%, possibly higher for 1st XI players. So if he's on £60k he'll earn the equivalent of £90k.

I have been skimming the Liverpool forums for post Dempsey to Tottenham reactions and found quite a few. Half are trying to keep a chin up and saying they could have cared less but the other half are quite in disbelief and furious that Liverpool missed out on signing Dempsey. They simply can't put their heads around how he was sold at a price that was not THAT expensive that they could have easily signed him but didn't.

I think this post sums it up best which I copied and will paste for you:

    My initial reaction = [IMG]

After 5 minutes thinking about it = [IMG]

After realising that if Luis gets injured.... = [IMG]

...and the fact that it had been in the pipeline since our manager took over, our improving Centre Forward was being shown the door and that he'd have to be replaced with a player that scores goals-like Dempsey does = [IMG]

After being nailed on to get Dempsey,we look very silly being totally trumped by Levy & Spurs = [IMG]

It has heaped pressure onto the existing players who really have to step up,some of whom are very young & unproven = [IMG]

THAT sums up what most are thinking and feeling, there is no cover for the paper thin squad on the attack, Dempsey could have covered a wide area of positions in formations. Most of all, Dempsey is proven in the Prem to score, he's been doing great the past 2 seasons. I am actually shocked so many still undervalue a player like him, Dempsey fights for his goals, he has been in the relegation pressure cooker as well. I don't hate Liverpool, I feel sorry for their fans, the ownership look like a bunch of scum for not trying hard enough... owners that happen to be AMERICAN. The shame...

Went for a bike ride after it was all over. Listening to my tunes, and Fearless by Pink Floyd came on. I had to start chuckling when the end came on... those of you who know the song will get the reference :D

Why does your club support say "other" now? Aren't you a Gals and Spurs fan?

There's no option for that unfortunately so I choose other. I blame big soccer!

Hey, do you hear that dark knight ? ;)

One wife and one team per continent, right?

I actually still find myself really pulling for Fulham. But I like Tott as well.

Finally, even if Clint falls off in PT, some would argue that would lengthen his career anyway.
