Good to see Stoke signing no less than 4 central midfielders in this window and they made a run at Jordan Henderson as well. Happy for Maurice and Geoff, but this is a dysfunctional club. What a strange strategy.
Stoke basically play with 9 CM's, a keeper, and Peter Crouch anyway, so I'm sure that won't be a problem.
Stoke City FC @stokecity Maurice Edu and Charlie Adam are both cleared to be able to play at Wigan Athletic tomorrow. Edu has squad number 13, Adam has 16.
True dont know how I forgot about them. It's gonna be tough. Good thing for Edu and Cameron is that both of them can play CB.
Next title thread could be "Edu is Stoke and Ready to go!!" I think he will do well wih Stoke I see him being a sub early on but could win a spot after a while...
I'm not worried about Cameron getting games in midfield or otherwise. Geoff has already made a big splash and quite a few people think he is the most talented CM at Stoke. Mo on the other hand will have to show very well in practice and really make the most of the opportunities he is allotted to get a good run of games in the midfield imo. I believe if he gets a fair chance he can beat out most of Stoke's current CM crop for the "destroyer" role. I certainly wish him the best. I would be very disappointed if he went there and didn't get a fair shot to earn a regular spot in the 18. I have to think Pulis will give him some games to impress soon enough though.
Sky is reporting that Stoke are in advanced discussions to acquire Steven N'Zonzi from Rovers. He's also a central midfielder, which should come as no surprise to anyone.
Well, early in the season at least, Stoke's opponents will really have to change tactics to adjust to Stoke's 0-10-0 formation.
With all these CM's and Stoke's apparent intent on bringing in more, is noone thinking that Stoke might try to convert these guys to permanent CB's that can cover in midfield if needed?
Stoke has agreed on a fee for Steven N'Zonzi so another midfielder... however, Wilson Palacios is on his way to Fulham.
